    Very very sad news. Thoughts are with Patrick's family.

    There could still be hope though for him. A life long family friend was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer over 5 years ago and has recently been given the all clear. Those with the faith, pray for this.

    This is dreadfully sad news. I went to school with Patrick and have always been proud and amazed that a lad from Wilson Street could achieve all that he has achieved. He is certainly the saviour of Barnsley Football Club. Thoughts are with his family at this time.

    Yes, my son has just come in from playing 5-a-side up at Oakwell and had heard the same up there, although not from within the club. Awful news. This and the passing of Norman Rimmington such a bitter twist on a wonderful period for our club.
