To be fair a road trip with Blink would be cheaper.

We have been to Sorrento 3 times. It is one of my favourite places, but there are no beaches, well not to speak of anyway. The compensations more than make up for it. For a start, it is Italia, which means laid back atmosphere, hot sun, cheap wine and really good food. Most hotels will have a pool to compensate for the lack of beaches. Then there is the sightseeing. Vesuvius dominates the area and most people will visit Pompeii or Herculaneum during their visit. You can reach both using the train, but if it is your first trip, an organised trip will have an English speaking guide. Napoli is not as bad as it is painted and some of the treasures discovered at Pompeii etc have been removed to the big museum in Napoli. There were trips to Vesuvius and the lava beds near Napoli, but these will depend on safety considerations. There was even a trip to Rome, but it was a very long day.

Thanks for that. The missus wants to go. In fairness I expect this will be during the international break of October. We're not really into beaches, sunbathing etc. We like exploring. So that's good. I'm obsessed with seeing new things. Or should that be, old things, but for the first time. There's a particular hotel we like that has stunning views of Vesuvius.

I'd like to go see Peru one day. I might need to save up though. :D

Well I'm going to have my say on our situation in general (not holidays!). This is all my opinion of course:

    1) recent results have been dissapointing, not necessarily performances. It's how it goes. We played loads better against Ipswich compared to against Blackburn, but beat the latter. We went on a similar run in October and November
    2) there's still plenty of time to make a good season a great season with our remaining games
    3) we're going to need to sign plenty of players in the summer
    4) lots of ifs and buts, but we'll probably have about 15 players left under contract before any new arrivals
    5) I'm looking forward to seeing who we sign in the summer
6 we've made great signings over the last few years regardless of manager. I honestly think the signings come from the same 'system' regardless of manager. Obviously the manager controls tactics etc. and I really hope Hecky stays for many years, but on the signings front I don't think the manager makes a great difference
    7) current players are signing new contracts. Hopefully plenty more follow. Perhaps we are learning from previously made mistakes, or just that some players didn't want to sign new deals making our situation regarding them very difficult
    8) we need a new CEO, no doubt
    9) I've got every faith in the club to get thing right
    10) I personally don't see the point in worrying about the future. Nothing we can do, and it's just as possible that things go fantastically well as catastrophically wrong. It's going to be intestine, but let's see what the future holds
