I get that. I do. But even with the departed players staying, we'd have fared little better since, In my opinion.

I'd like to think Winnall would have scored more than Armstrong's 1.

Well, he's scored 1 in 12 is it, at Wednesday?

I'm not so sure. We lost too many key players in January for it not to have affected our momentum but that's just my opinion, we'll never really know where we'd have ended up had we kept this team together. I just hope we can keep Hecky and let him rebuild.

Different circumstances, different styles. We were setup to get the best from him.

I'm sure he'd have scored more than Armstrong has with or without Conor.

All speculation now of course. You can only piss wi t **** tha's got

He has multi million pound players playing with him now. His strike partner somehow earns 60k a week. And Fletcher is on 40k.

I get what you're saying though.

We lost one key player - Hourihane. Had he stopped Armstrong & Bradshaw would be on a higher goal tally.

Mowat's his replacement but it's taking some work so let's trust in the coaching staff to address that.

Not denigrating Winnall who I was gutted to see leave - but he worked better in our team as it was - doubtless he'll notch against us but he'll struggle to enjoy the continued success he had with us in a different team imho.

Bree is destined for the very top - amazed he went to play for that ******* idiot Bruce.

Winnall was just as crucial as Conor. Goalscoring isn't easy. People just want to downplay it cos he left for Wednesday.

We set up specifically to play to his strengths which helped him and Wednesday do not. He would have scored more than Armstrong and Bradshaw combined to the end of the season.

We also miss Bree's attacking verve and intent we are much more pedestrian without him I'm the side.

We had the heart ripped out of the team and now we have to rebuild. It'll be hard let's not kid ourselves but that doesn't mean we can't do it

    Onwards and upwards

Rosler has gone from 20/1 to 7/1 today. But the 11/10 Hecky has been cut to Evens (best price) now.

Looks like it's between those two.

I know a lot is down to money and ambition, but I just wonder if Patricks current state of health might play a part in keeping Hecky at oakwell for the forseeable?

Got to say I think we're far weaker.

At full back Jones & Elder are nowhere near as good as Bree.

Winnall's a far better goal scorer than Armstrong & a better one than Bradshaw.

And although the quality of Matty James means we haven't really missed Hourihane in open play we've definitely missed his set pieces. With Ryan Kent on corners it feels like we're back to the days of Jim O'Brien taking them.

I think we've also missed Morsy because when Scowen was playing on the right we were winning games & playing well.

I would agree we are weaker. I just don't believe we'd have necessarily made the playoffs had we not lost those players. Which seems to be the assertion from many, that we were certs with those players in the side.

I also believe losing those players coincided with a much tougher run of fixtures. We lost to Huddersfield, Brighton, Reading and Ipswich with those players in the side. We drew with Villa. And beat Norwich and Derby. It's fair to say without them, we've fared only slightly worse in terms of points. 6 rather than seven, but less defeats.

I reckon the club were right to cash in on players who wanted out. But then, I would.

It's piss easy for some folk to gamble away the best part of £10m on an outside bet of playoffs (and an equal or greater outside bet of winning them) when it's not their money.

They're the same ones who would have sat Sam Winnall down, put his dummy back in, slapped him on the arse and had him score 20 more goals despite his lip dragging him so low he kept tripping over it.

Running a football club from behind a keyboard is easy. Wish these faces would go and offer their services to Robert Zuk on the financial aspects, Hecky on the coaching and management, and Patrick, Maurice and Barry on the long term running of a club who's ongoing success is relevant not only to us as fans, but the many many hardworking people who strive constantly for the teams success.

But like I say. Piss easy to run a club when it's someone else's money, and a lot of other people's careers on the line.

I can understand the frustration of it all, I was gutted myself once it became clear that these players wouldn't be staying. But we knew that if they continued to excel, even with a jump up in level, we would struggle to retain them. And so it proved.

It's ****. But sometimes there isn't anyone to blame.

Ah right. We definitely weren't certs.

I believed we'd probably got about a 35% chance of getting in but it's all guesswork. Hourihane, Winnall etc could've carried on playing well or one or more could've got crocked or form go I don't know.

I can see why we sold them but it's the never knowing how we'd have done that gets me down
