Away Following given in ground as 5009 so based on their own official site sold out allocation that means they had 287 fans in the away end who weren't catered for..... http://mobile.swfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/barnsley-tickets-sold-out-3630167.aspx
Apart from the 20 minutes after they'd scored, I thought their fans were ****. Didn't sing at all first half and once they started feeling the nerves that last 20 minutes, they were quiet then. I thought Barnsley fans had it nailed on when they started singing 'we forgot that you were here'. We've had a lot smaller crowds this season who were better.
I thought it was a poor atmosphere all round. Started well then fell very flat. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
i,m told barnsley sold a coporate package for 300 wednesday fans for 90 quid which included breakfast and bar at the holiday inn......good marketing.
They were really quiet before they scored but if we had spent 40 million on players and played as poor as they did no wonder. When the did score they went wild to say we aren't a rival and they don't care about us pitch invasions pyro the lot. Saw that tango before game he was getting some right hammer from loads of tarn lads he didn't have no come back and looked like he was about to cry his face was priceless.
Very quiet from the away end on Saturday, they didn't even do that bounce that usually crops up twice a game. They always go mental when they get a goal, bit like Leeds for that. Another pyro let off I see and no apparent attempts to stop fans standing in aisles or wherever they fancied. I love a lassez-faire approach but considering the trouble in previous games it seemed very laid back. What I thought was daft though... a reduced allocation due to concerns over trouble, yet they didn't net the bottom corner of the away end off, allowing their fans to be as close as possible to the East Stand corner. Instead we had two blocks of OUR stand netted off, further reducing the home capacity. Seemingly we're being punished for the actions of Leeds and Huddersfield fans. Re the atmosphere in general... about what I expected for an early kick off. As a rule, people just don't seem quite ready to stand and sing, probably the reduced beer time hindered that. Plus, although I enjoyed the game, it wasn't particularly good fair for the most part.
