    Dublin is a great city, Venice if you like the exotic, Bangkok is the liveliest

    I agree, down by the river and the old town is stunning. I loved all the little narrow streets and side streets. It's a shame I was only there on a day trip!

    In the U.K.- definitely Edinburgh like York it's steeped in history. Lots of places of interest to visit
    and plenty of snug pubs where you're made welcome and can enjoy a real pint of ale.
    The Military Tatoo is something else. What an experience.!

    Europe- Rome for the same reason as Edinburgh. As a left footer a visit to St Peters Basilica and the
    Sistine Chapel was a must for me. Also enjoyed a visit to the open air amphitheatre in Verona to see
    Verdi's opera Aida when I was on holiday in Lake Garda.

    Venice was great ( quite expensive) but also plenty of historical places to see and visit.
    The Beckhams were staying in a hotel near Murano. Our tour guide told us it could cost 15 grand
    a night tops for one of the rooms in the luxury complex.!

    Ours was 130€ per night in Garda but I bet we enjoyed it just as much.!

    England: Manchester. Always something going off in one of the quarters.

    Abroad: Istanbul. You can touch the history. As an history geek it gives me goosebumps.

    Not been to the US yet but pretty sure I'd enjoy a lot of cities over there.

    Think I'd say London out of them all though, for so many reasons. If only the prices of things were more like Krakow.

    Very disappointed with New York because of all the hype I thought it would be a taller brasher London - and it isn't a patch on London.
    And been to quite a few American cities including San Francisco and only found Las Vagas to be any good. All the rest are dull.

    If you're wanting a good (and short) history of Istanbul, its worth watching Byzantium by John Romer before you go. Free on Youtube. It was Channel 4 years ago, but, theres been nowt better since. I'd also recommend reading a book called Constaninople: The Last Great Siege 1453 by Roger Crowley about how the Turks captured it.

    I appreciate you go mostly for the footy, but, the city is fantastic and safe to explore.

    Good shout that. Manchester is worth a visit. To save any hassle with parking we always visit one of the
    best markets I've ever been on in Bury, park up in the large car park there and get two returns on the
    Tram. Takes you right into the middle of Manchester's shopping area. One of the biggest M&S stores I've ever been in
    comes into view as you leave the terminal.

    Following the IRA bombing a lot of the buildings in that area were rebuilt and so are relatively new.
    I've been a couple of times for the St Patrick Day parade. It's brilliant to watch marching bands and pipe
    bands and its a sea of emerald green and white. A fantastic sight and good to see the local people of Manchester joining in the celebrations.
