Germans are very hospitable and friendly, a far cry from their stereotype. Although they really do leave their beach towels on the sun beds!

I had a short trip to Trier earlier this year, just jumping on a fantastic train from Luxembourg. Had never heard of it, the oldest town in Germany just over the border with a Roman amphitheatre, bath houses, a huge gate on entry and a huge cathedral with some incredible building facades.

Friendly people, lovely local beers and just a chilled feel.

That's what I love about Europe. Some incredible places off the beaten track that are just waiting to be discovered.

That's an expensive lunch! Not for the travel, for the food. I'm used to London prices and Luxembourg is a bit eye watering. Lovely little city though and some amazing patisseries.

Wouldn't have thought they'd be much in the way of football to attract you to Luxembourg! I think F91 Dudelange or Differdange would struggle to give Shaw Lane a decent test.

I like Bristol, my mate lives there and I often go down for a weekend. People are friendly and there's loads to do. Always bloody lose there though....

Got to agree, Bristol is alright. Bag-o-nails, one of my favourite pubs.

In the UK probably York lots of history with plenty to see, like London without Cockneys :)

    Outside UK
Wellington - Uk without the stress or hassle
Bangkok - Sublime meets the ridiculous
    Auckland - see Wellington
Hong Kong - In your face 24 hours a day

My partner is Bulgarian so we go often. Wonderful country. How come you know Shumen? I've travelled a lot and have only passed by there. My favourite cities there are Ruse on the Danube where she's from which is a lovely, calm little Austro-Hungarian-esque city, then Plovdiv for its history and climate.
