Lots of positives to take away despite conceding late on.

Defence looked solid. Davies made a couple of world class saves. Both fullbacks comfortable in both defence and attack. Central pairing has potential to blossom. Lindsay solid in defence but not a natural ball playing defender. That said nor was Robbo but he worked hard on that part of his game.

Plenty of pace and creativity out wide. Central Midfield was biggest concern for me today. Moncur looks quality, but who plays alongside him?
    1. Sessi just back from long lay off.
    2. Mowat, has the talent but does seem on it.
    3. McGeehan, not expected back until September and will take time to settle.
    4. Joe Williams, early days and making a big step up from u23 leagues.
    5. Mallan, preferred out wide today and not convinced he and moncur would be strong enough defensively.
At least one more needed in central midfield. A physical, combative player to break up play.

Finally our attackers today worked hard. Paynes physical presence caused problems and he linked play well. Good movement from Ugbo. Got to say surprise was Jacob Brown, great energy. Would be keen to see more of him!

Priority I feel is to sign a couple of forwards, and another central midfielder. Lets see what the next week brings!

As for Huddersfield stand out players today imho were 6 & 12. Jonathan Hogg and Dimitri Cavare (trialist). I thought Cavare was excellent and if no deal yet done, we seriously consider talks. Built like MVoto, pace, flair, and whipped in a few crosses a real handful!!!!

I would imagine if Town don't offer Cavare a contract , we could be in a good position to offer him a deal. He was /is contracted to Rennes but up to 2015 he was with Gautiers former Club RC Lens , so he might be aware of his capabilities.
Under 20's French international, 22 years old and just over 6 foot tall he fits our profile perfectly.

I worry with the right side of Midfield. Mowatt never plays well wide right like first half yesterday. However neither did Mallan yesterday. Mowatt looks ok with Moncur centre mid pairing. I think Williams is the combative midfielder we were looking for but how do we accommodate in there. So far i had Izzy - Mowat - Moncur - Hamill but I'm wondering how Mallan and Williams will fit in. Thats a conundrum I'm sure hecky has a good view on otherwise he wouldn't have signed em. Moncur for me has shown enough to be first choice centre mid.

I didn't get to the game yesterday because I was at a family function. Looked at the 14 minute clip that somebody
posted ( thank you) and read some of the comments when I got home and was quite impressed with some of the passages of our play.

Obviously it was a friendly so we weren't flat out and we probably didn't have our very best eleven out on the park.
From everything that's been said, if the strikers Hecky had on his original list had been available, you would have
thought they would be with us now on permanent contracts surely.?

As previously commented on by others, that points very strongly to the fact that the ones we could be bringing in are loans who are still involved in pre- season preparations with their parent Clubs re- like McBurnie , Fletcher etc.

Once the Premier League Clubs have decided on their final squads for the new season we will have a clearer picture as to who might be available.

We could be a couple of games into our campaign before we get them in so we will have to show patience, but for one
I am encouraged by what I have heard and seen of our new intake thus far.!
