and despite the likes of Hemsie/Conan/Nudger etc giving it large and moaning about the squad... I think it looks a decent set of players TBH.... its about time those 'Three Stooges' gave it up and let Hecky and his lads get on with it.
I dont think the starting 11 looks great but the squad looks okay. We just need 3-4 more in including 1 very good striker and 1 very good winger.
will not disagree as that's your opinion, but we still do not know how many of the developing players may suddenly come through do we. We may well have a few more of the quality of Stones/Holgates/Bree in our crèche yer never know
Possibly but Stones, Holgate and Bree were all pretty well known and talked about whilst coming through. Of the recent crop I've only thought Palmer stood out but given the type of player he is it may take a while until we see him come through.
All 3 live in the same house - so we can't. And we (well I am) are very often proved right. When the facts change my mind changes. What we have signed so far look good. Hecky says we need another 4. I would say 6 if we can afford them - to give Hecky more options. We need to be bringing in a few £1 million ish young fast strikers and wingers. Then we're sorted. All positive stuff - in it - but that's me.
Agreed. Try and remember this post and put the wine bottle down if we lose a week on Saturday though!
I have. But here goes: Bradshaw - Payne may not be up to it. Although I think Payne could come good. Ugbo - Brown are Rookies and owt could happen. So I would bring 3 strikers in to give Hecky as many options as possible and hopefully at least 1 or 2 will come good. Wingers. Isgrove + 3 others to give Hecky options. Hammill used as an impact player - I don't think he could play 90 minutes week in week out.
Well its all about opinions & my opinion is that Hammil is our most experienced winger & is a match winner without a doubt ( cast your mind back to wembley, twice ), & we have Isgrove & Hedges, so please explain why we need another three to go with these.
Genuinely interested as to who you think we should bring in up front as these £1 million ish strikers
I don't think the issue is how the squad looks, but we are still short in some areas. I'm not overly critical of the fact that we still need players because I understand the difficulty we've probably faced in bringing some targets in, having to wait on the parent clubs making a decision (particularly Premier league clubs) and the fact that we've signed about 10 already suggests that we had full intention of getting as many in as early as possible. But we are still at least 4 short in my opinion of the optimum squad size. Hecky said last week that he wants 5 including a replacement for Roberts (which says to me that Pinnock isn't that direct replacement), so I can sympathise with Conan's concerns in the sense that the season is a mere 10 days away and we've still not signed some players who'll need to be bedded in. I feel the Premier league dictates a lot of that so expect a lot of activity on deadline day again.
So, from your vast football knowledge, what is it about our squad that makes you think it is a decent set of players? Not saying it isn't but you are giving an opinion based on sod all aren't you? I wouldn't really give much weight to any of your opinions as you never actually go to games. Say what you like about HT, but that is one thing that cannot be said about him.
