Hecky is sounding a very frustrated man in his interview after the game. I'm one for friendly results meaning nothing when the real deal starts but quite worrying hearing what Hecky's saying.
He laid into the owner and the board big time then didn't He? Good on him. Sounds like he's been promised things that they aren't willing to give him. He deserves far better than us. I honestly wouldn't blame him for wanting a move away tbh. We are run like a joke.
I bloody loved that interview. Proper passion from a man that cares. If that isn't a wake up call to those making decisions then i don't know what is! I'll tell you what, if they don't start responding to him then he'll walk! It should be treated as a wake up call for everyone. We need a team full of grafters not pretty boys. I honestly feel better after that interview as it's reassured me that he isn't happy. It's time to spend!
That's the angriest and most down I've ever heard him. Typical hecky though. Didn't pull any punches with his comments. He is key to our survival and whoever is in charge needs to be giving him whatever he needs to take us forward. He's realistic and he knows we're not gonna spend millions but he's also ambitious and also knows that we need to pull our finger out re player acquisitions. I'm very curious about who is leading us from a strategic point of view given Patrick's illness. I hope to god we have some executive succession plans in place because if Heckys frustration levels increase he will start asking himself questions about his future. The two most important people at our club are the Chairman and Hecky and Hecky needs to know we have a plan. It clearly must be very very difficult given PCs condition but we need to fill the leadership vacuum. Step up GG. His take on today's abject display are 100% well founded. He also said that the only player who deserves a start next week was Joe Williams and he's right to say that. He was the one lad out there that worked effectively. He tackled, he tracked back, he went forward with purpose and he showed the heart that we expect. It reall was disappointing from the rest. Credit to Rotherham, and I hope they bounce straight back but they really had nothing to beat today. I always try not to moan and I try and stay positive but what I saw today was worrying. The optimistic side of me does, however, kick in and indeed it was just a pre season friendly and we can't get any worse ......so let's hope all the apathy on show today is kicked out of the squad this week and we go down to Bristol in good shape with a bunch of lads with a point to prove and a performance which matches our managers expectations- win lose or draw. COME ON YOU REDS.
The one bright spot is that I don't think anyone is looking for a new Manager this close to the start of the season (are they?)
