He looked brilliant last year at the side of Matty James. I don't see the point in a 5 in the middle for us, it's never worked.

    Stick with 442.

Any suggestions? People have also regularly been on Mowatt's back and PH has openly said that Mallan isn't tactically ready.

That would be my ideal starting line up when we have the other lads back from injury.

They certainly don't look like a good midfield pairing.

It's clear that Hecky does not trust any of them in a two

I like the look of the that team but the two cm's need to be able to put a tackle in like hourihane and scowen or brown hill did otherwise we'd be ripped part through the middle as we can't do a Kevin keegan and try to win 4 3 each week.

It's got to change think that is a weak point for us same as McDonald pinnock looked a lot better when he came on plus we need a leader on that pitch and McDonald is not that

We conceded 6 goals in the opening 2 games playing 4-4-2 and were run ragged by both Bristol and Morecambe in the second half. Pick any two of our current crop of central midfield players and we'll be destroyed. We've only won once since going with 5 across the middle but at least we've cut the opposition's goal tally down to 4 in those 3 games.

Top and bottom of it is the players we've brought in are nowhere near good enough or don't have anywhere near enough experience (Joe Williams had no first team games to his name before coming to us yet he's been asked to do a job that is usually the domain of a player 30+ with 400 league appearances). At least if we string 5 across the middle someone might inadvertently get in the way of the opposition just by holding position.

Agree with that I thought Potts did OK from what I saw.
