Norwich are often mentioned as an example of a very well-run medium sized club, and one which we should aspire to. However, reading their message board, it seems that a lot of the natives are very displeased with whatever is going on behind the scenes there. Sold players for £30 million last season, and still have a year of parachute payments left, yet are already shopping in the bargain basement. They just signed Raggett from Lincoln, which has split their fans as half of them think they should be following the Barnsley / Brentford model of signing young players from the lower divisions and have a sustainable club, even if they yo-yo between the Championship and L1, and the other half think they should still be splashing out millions on players and are wondering where the money has gone. Genuine worry about what will happen when the parachute money runs out. Half the fans want Delia Smith to sell to rich foreign investors, the other half don't want the club to "sell its soul". A lot of the comments mirror what we see on here. Including a massive thread about Barnsley's takeover. This is the link for anyone who's interested.

Though if you can't be bothered to read it, just imagine most of the posts on here in a daft Norfolk accent, substituting "Norwich" for "Barnsley", "Smith" for "Cryne", and "Raggett" for "Pinnock".

Not a great start for the canaries.
But alas as the determined few will continue to point out, "we can't compete with the likes of norwich with their high paid players and parachute payments.";)

Some bells on that site, they should think themselves lucky, if that club was dumped in the middle of South Yorkshire they'd struggle to get 8k at home and half of the turnover they get. Stuck out there with no other club to support and they're towing in the Championship.

They will be back for Hecky with an offer too good to turn down they will want him to set up the youngsters and coach them

Doubtful. Sounds from reading their forum that they haven't got a pot to **** in. Of course that may be an exaggeration, but it certainly looks like their board aren't planning on putting their hands in their pockets any time soon. Sounds far more like purse strings are being tightened, hence the unrest.

It's all relative. In my lifetime they've always been a top flight / top half second tier club. Can't see that changing.

As far as I'm aware, Norwich have always sourced many players from the Lower Leagues.
Delia's not known for splashing oodles of cash on players.

Didn't they spend around £15 million on the brilliantly named Ricky Von Wolfswinkle, only for him to turn out to be complete and utter dogger?

On the contrary. There are a determined majority who believe we CAN compete with the likes of Norwich and are currently doing it. And we're doing it without the tens of millions head start they have on us.

    The table doesn't lie.
Over the last 3 years we have competed in L1 and Championship with lower league/non league/freebies which has got us where we are
At the end of the day it's 11 v 11, and having just watched WBA v Stoke I can't see where they have spent the multi millions

We are doing it the right way

Not a massive fan of Marley are they?

'A free transfer from Barnsley, I guess you get what you pay for'

    'Free looks a bit expensive'

Seems a shade harsh to me.

To be fair I was pretty unsure about him when he first joined. Appeared to be gangly, awkward, and not really to know whether he was a winger or a striker. All things which actually turned into attributes. But in the opening home match against Burton, he looked like a footballer who didn't quite understand how to play football.

Very confusing to me this Marly episode.
Not a first team regular nor really pulled any trees up: fair to middling when on show.
Yet goes to a club who many would argue have much greater potential (a bigger club at least).
    What did they expect?

Eh? He scored 10 goals for us last season, mainly from the wing.

So why didn't he become an integral part of the team then?

and a lot on here are guilty of similar , when they criticise the signings of lower and non league signings... look up the word hypocrisy some time.

I ******* hate Norwich for the gloating they did when they relegated us. I hope Watkins has spent his summer turning into Kevin Donovan.

He seemed pretty integral to me, especially after January.
