Chien Lee might complete the takeover, now Maurice has left the club. His statement is
"I have now decided the time is right to move on."
This could mean he feels Chien Lee could make the club worse, or to be honest it could mean anything.

My guess is the fear of change is the reason for him leaving. Plus with Patrick being ill and only a small possible retention in the club maybe he feels he no longer connected?

I imagine it does mean the takeover will be complete otherwise why would now be the right time with an ill owner? It may not mean that he thinks badly of Lee though, as I think he was here to do us a favour (can't remember why I think that but something seems to be in the back of my mind) and it may mean that he won't be needed as much now so he can spend his time on his other many ventures.

Seems an odd time to leave, given Patrick's illness, if nothing is happening.

Don't see what your problem is with my opinion. I work for a huge organisation and I see people leave regularly because of big changes to the structure. It is infact one of the main aspects of management and directorship training/qualification. The fact that Partick brought him to the club and soon will no longer be there may well have aided his decision.

    lol !!!
We are not taking about someone who sits at home all day - or who has done the same job for 30 years.
This guy has experienced massive changes throughout his life

Makes no difference for how long or what he's done. I'm sure he's never been subject to a Chinese takeover regardless of his extensive CV.

Maurice must have only spent 5% of his time in his BFC role. He was there as a figure head name only, I'm sure the new owners would want someone a bit more hands on and dedicate more time to his duties. I only see positive in this change.

Maybe resigned due to conflict of interests as I'm guessing his legal practice will be handling the transaction on the behalf of BFC.

That's as I see it too. If you look at his other sporting responsibilities, he won't have been with us because he wanted to be, but as a favour to his friend, given that he has high level experience within sporting organisations.
I'm hoping and guessing it's a case of 'my work here is done, I'll leave you in the safe hands of GG and the new owners'.

The way I see it is that MW was brought in to provide some consultancy over key matters during an unsettled time at the club, part of his remit being to consult on takeover enquiries/bids (clue in the International Sports Lawyer title that MW carries).

If that work has now been done, then MW's services are no longer required. Which may suggest that a takeover is imminent.

Or it may mean, that he's just decided the time is right for him to move on and he can add no further value to the club.

I really don't think it has any specific negative undertones.

Exactly how I see it. His initial remit was to find a buyer and advise on that transition.

A likeable and very clever man. Just because we didn't see much of him, it doesn't mean his support has been without value. Quite the opposite I suspect.

Could be. I suppose it could be a number of reasons but legal reasons could well be a viable one.

New owners bringing in new directors meaning Maurice surplus to requirements?

That's exactly as I see it. Nothing negative whatsoever. And as was pointed out in a different thread, MW is 78 years old. The amount of things he seems to be involved in would be more than enough work to exhaust a 30 year old.

This is how I see it too.

He's a very busy man, hopefully it's a sign that we are in a position that he's no longer needed.

Got to be positive regarding the takeover , being Patrick's friend he wouldn't have resigned to leave club without a chairman etc
