It depends on your tastes though kid, Im not into the ridiculous strong beers/lagers beyond 5.5% etc. That Oranje stuff suits me like others at that strength, and I don't get headaches by the way. When I have a mad session I might totally forget everything from the previous night, but I don't need everybody to be quiet because of a hangover. :p

    Hi and welcome Moblo,
I lived in Holland for 3 years (Roermond), and worked very close with a Dutch company called Conver for quite awhile.

Glad to see you picked a great team.

I do indeed young man indeed i do..had some very good laughs and met a few good lads to boot....i remember my spat with Shafton red when he said the reason we were playing bad under Davey was all the fans fault because we weren't singing....lol
The only reason i stopped posting on there was the adverts and the fact it took me ages to log in, then when the site changed and updated it didn't recognized my pass word or user name so i changed it to sheddy 131 and then it wouldnt recognize my password so i gave it up as a bad job...

Well Im not drumming up business here of course Shed... but come back and have another look at Footymad/Tykesmad eh lol.
I know various fans who used to post on there and now post on here, and Id like to think I got on well with them (like Jack Tatty & Arabian Ian for example). :)

Where in The Netherlands are you from @Moblo? My girlfriend is also Dutch and she came over here in December 2011.

I've been to the best thing near Den Haag...Duinrell! She's from Groningen so I've visited there a few times - really lovely city. If only I could persuade her to attend the Barnsley games with me...she's only been once so far.

    Hey @Moblo and @Runner, welcome aboard! :)

I'm another Johnny Foreigner on this board, but this is a nice place to be even if I rarely post these days, and there are a lot of good people in here. I just wonder where they've all gone...
Nah, I'm just kidding, this board is ace. :) Sometimes the discussions on certain topics may turn a little bit too heated and childish for me, which is a shame because I'd much rather see everyone get along with each other in here, but I suppose that you can always skip those threads if you like.

Do you two have a favourite club in your homeland? I watched Jari Litmanen lift the Champions League trophy with Ajax when I was 12, and I think that's when my love for football began. So ever since that moment I've had a soft spot for Ajax and for Dutch football in general. It's a shame that you're not doing too well at the moment, but I'm sure that's just a temporary blip in form.

One last question: Is it absolutely wrong/annoying to refer to your home country as Holland instead of The Netherlands? I must have googled that many times before, and if I remember correctly, Holland is just one province in The Netherlands, but is there really a big difference? Even in my official Euro 2012 merchandise t-shirt it says "Holland" in the back! :)

    Thanks!

I never really had a fave because, well, my home town has ADO The Hague, and that's basically, or at least used to be, our Millwall.... But I used to follow Ajax a bit and of course the national team, which are now absolutely *****.

The best way to explain the Netherlands vs Holland is watching this youtube vid:

I've been a season ticket holder there in my youth for about 10 or so years. Not the biggest club, but well supported locally. They tend to bounce around between the Eredivisie and the First Division.

Tag! I liked nijmegen. Visited when I lived in Germany - to play in a korfball tournament. It felt like home.

I've still got a couple of football national shirts too following my honorary Dutchiness status from playing volleyball with a team from the Netherlands :) :)

Nijmegen is a lovely place! We're taking some Barnsley folk down there in November to run a popular local event there. Can't wait to show them around!
