Optimistic and full of hope. I love the man. Hard work, wear the shirt with pride and posess the hunger to succeed. He seems capable of instilling thise principles in them that work for him and he drives it with momentum because he knows that's what we as fans want. I find it difficult to name another manager who is so totally in tune with his clubs fanbase other than PH. Wilder mebbe?
Anyway if you've not read it then i'd recommend that you do read it. It's testimony to the fact that we need to get bought into the new group and the fact that it is actually a time for new heroes. Might sound cliched but it sounds heartfelt. I read this place every day and only occasionally post but tonight, after reading the managers statement it made me feel like I was 12 years old again. Might sound stupid but I screamed out a "c'maaaaahn" in appreciation. It's probably the white wine talking but wouldn't it be chuffin fantastic if all the whiners and moaners on here (you know who you are) would just stop and take the longer term perspective and recognise that these are indeed the best of times. We are building again and they will come.

I count myself among the realists. I was sceptical as to whether we could again go to the well this season and pull out yet another group of players who were eager to develop and in possession of as much talent as our previous recruits. But on the evidence of the three home league games (I didn't go to the Morecambe game) this looks to me to be one of the most exciting squads we've assembled in recent times - especially when you consider how early this is in their development. It took a while to draw out the promise of such as Scowen, Hourihane and Roberts, but Hecky hasn't had the luxury of that amount of time this season. It suggests to me that along with his coaching staff, he is continuing to refine and perfect his development model. It must be hugely exciting for Paul to watch his players taking on board his input so quickly. I'm not naïve enough to think there won't be many more blips this season, and a mid-table finish would represent an excellent achievement. But there is enormous potential in this group of players, so far as I can see. And if the takeover comes off, there will be investment available to us as well. But the greatest investment that could be made at the moment is for the club to secure the long-term future of the best manager we've ever had.

Sounds like the trailer for a horror movie. Are you two sure you're on the right thread?

The OP said "We are building again and they will come." Just asking who they are that are coming".

You know what? I was going to write a sarky reply. But, to be honest, I can't really be arsed with the negativity thing this morning so I'm off outside to cut some hedges.

Where is the negativity? Was merely asking what the phrase actually meant. I actually agree with the OP's sentiments on Hecky.

He also thought Hourihane was over-rated, and contributed very little to the team.......

From what Ive seen so far Ive not been greatly impressed by a few. Seriously trying to figure out if he's brought in and selecting Pearson for the comedy factor. Potts ain't my cup of tea either. Williams and Lindsay look decent though so we'll have to see.

Correct, first season he hindered the side by having to have two players around him in midfield, never took a genius to work that out but not surprisingly you still couldn't see it.

Dont get this criticism of Pearson, he is a young lad who is stepping up & whilst he isn"t the finnished article, he is solid & showing improvement, just cut him some slack
