Chien Lee's consortium are buying 98.5% of the club. From The Times https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/mr-moneyball-buys-barnsley-tm0nc9xn7
They're dealing with the wrong people. They should buy it from Patrcik Cryne, The Times must be scamming them.
Brilliant. After all that we are going to be run by Mr Beane!! Bring it On as they say in cheerleading circles. At least he's a sportsman and has a hand in running a successful baseball team.

As I understand things a lot of the money is contingent on us getting to the premier league which is sensible
Is it ??? So are you saying they are not prepared to invest much into the club - but will sit back and just hope the club ultimately hits the £100++ MILLION per season jackpot called the Premeirship? If that's the case ....... they have a long wait.
On the 24th August Companies House have listed Mrs Jean Cryne and Mr James Cryne as registered Directors in Oakwell Holdings Limited.
Looking forward to seeing the Oakwell Pirates becoming world champions in a excruciatingly lengthy version of hockey that no one else plays
Is this allied to the notion that Mr Cryne wanted £6m (IIRC) from any buyer of the club if/when the club subsequently got to the Prem ? Nothing at all to do with the money the new buyer may or may not spend on the team.
It's just really started to dawn on me the magnitude of this takeover bid. Lee, Bean and Conway seem to be big hitters. For our club and town this could make a massive difference throughout, It will knock on to the town economically, a successful buoyant football team bringing in more people more revenue for shops hotels bars in the town centre etc more jobs, investment sponsors. Really exciting for a team and town like barnsley. Hopefully this is our time for something good to happen and that we deserve it.
I think you are right. A deferred payment dependent on promotion which presumably makes the present deal £6m more attractive from a buyers point of view. We have alot to thank Patrick for.
On a separate note, with the rejuvenation of our shopping and entertainment facilities in the town it could appear that as a borough we're making massive strides to catch up to our local neighbors. Me personally at the age of 32 has enjoyed growing up in a proud working class town, enjoyed watching our 'little' team defy the odds year in year out and part of me is a little sceptical about joining the 'money' brigade but the bigger picture for Barnsley has a whole is ultimately capital investment. I wish these new owners all the best and if the rapport is there which we've got used to over the last 3 years then they've got a fantastic set of loyal supporters who'll turn up on masse to all 4 corners of the country. Certainly exciting times ahead
Let's not get all Wednesday. Boat loads of clubs have thrown money at the dream and fallen short. The other side of it is that hecky and the club have little experience in making bigger signings and it may not suit them. Personally I'd like to see the current business model continue where we make affordable forward strides with the long term development of the club of paramount importance. It's given me a sense of pride that it is my club that has started down this path and earned its own rewards through hard work and ability. That said, an injection of brass may push us forward a couple of years. We'll see but in the meantime, "people say that footballs boring". Looking forward to seeing king Ronnie back on the hallowed turf.
The current model involves us taking gambles on Unknown quantities who if they succeeded get poached for better wages. I for one want that part of the model to change.
