Last 2 games had clear cut chances ..if he scored against villa who cares but tonight we could have scraped it.. just keeper to beat is he upto it ?

At this level we need natural goalscorers who finish those ... should he be starting against Tottenham after being woeful against villa ?!?!?

Thiam needs a run in side ugbo for me needs a rest

Are you being serious? The lad doesn't even turn 19 until tomorrow. I can only think you weren't at the Sunderland game. And what do you say about Tom Bradshaw, who had the same effect against Villa but had more time on the pitch? Ugbo is a terrific prospect and a very welcome addition to our admittedly thin striking roster. The reality is that Hecky will undoubtedly use Ugbo, Thiam, Bradshaw and Brown in rotation in the coming months. And if we can secure McBurnie in January, that will be another option. But I can't believe such negativity against a lad who has succeeded massively at every level he's played at so far. I enjoy watching him.

I would have to disagree....thought he provided our only real goal threat and his ability to run in behind caused them one or two problems, as it did Villa when he came on. He isn't getting many chances and the one last night he had to wait for hit to come down before volleying it....he made a great connection and either side of the keeper would have put us one up. My only question is whether he can play the lone striker role yet with the players we have and the quality of the opposition we face in the championship, we cant really play our preferred 4-4-2.

From what I saw of him against Preston he can't play the lone striker role at the moment. However, to be fair to him, most of the service to him did come at head height.

What I don't understand is yes last season from January onwards we had to play with only one striker up front but why are we still doing it when we have more strikers. Everyone can see it is not working.

We're playing with 1 central striker due to the midfielders at PH's disposal more than anything else. There's no point playing 4-4-2 if your midfield can't effectively compete as a 4.

Absolultely shocking player, dont care what anyone on here says he is not championship quality yet and maybe never will be. Cant belive we are going at least half a sason with him as one of our main strikers, this could get us relegated. Doubt he would even be as good in league 1 as fletcher was. Were really gonna struggle for goals this season, because we have not signed a quality striker. Would rather have signed a pacey striker from league one who is used tp playing against men than this lad.

against sunderland he scored and set one up i agree. but for the rest of the game he gave the ball away or got knocked off it. in all the rest of the games he has played hes benn knocked of the ball and done nowt

My opinion is not based on his miss at spurs its all the games he as played, he doesn't put himself about enough. hes a lazy fecker and hes as weak as piss.

hope i have proven wrong, would be happy for people to bump this post but hes fecking crap sorry :D

    Like who? Christ almighty.

Just look at Ugbo's record. It's no more of a gamble than Fletcher was previously.

I'd have signed frigging devante cole before ugbo

We were in league 1 with fletcher and already had Winnall. It's a far bigger gamble

The same Devante Cole who has failed to get to double figures in each of the last two seasons in League One? Yeah, we should've broke the bank, Admin.

After adding firepower to his squad in time for the upcoming home friendlies with Coventry City and Huddersfield Town, Paul Heckingbottom spoke exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk.

“We’re really pleased at being able to bring one of the brightest young strikers out there to Oakwell and of course we must thank Chelsea for allowing us to do so. I am really excited about what Ike can bring to the team. He is a forward who has pace, height, strength and power as well as a keen eye for goal as is shown by his record. He fits into the mould of players that we’re looking for; someone who wants to better themselves and further their career so we are more than happy that he has chosen to continue that development with us.”

I know who I'm with on Ike.

I half agree with you. Thiam deserves a good run and will get one given what we paid for him. To drop Ugbo after just a few games would be mental. He's young and raw and it will come.

I never said devante cole was any good. I said I'd rather have him than ugbo.

    Can't admin have an opinion???
