    86-6 needing another 88,
Essex away last up, real danger of dropping if Somerset salvage something

The team needs a clear out. Starting with Andrew Gale.

A poor decision made by Yorkshire to appoint gale , and to sign braithwate for last two game s a even a even stranger decision.

I was concerned when Andrew Gale got the coach job after Gillespie. He may have given Yorkshire long service as a player but I thought he was uninspiring as a captain and is struggling badly in his new role. I don't credit him with the two championship wins - we were just lucky to have top class players and a top class coach.

170 odd to win in a fourth innings with a day and a bit should have been a walk in the park. We are now relying on four bowlers to do the batting job for us. 64 more needed. We could end up losing to the team with only a single championship win all season. At Headingley. Not good enough....

Survive or be relegated the side needs a proper coach, Gale could be kept on to assist or coach the kids or seconds but he isn’t up to the Yorkshire first team job.

The consolation is that Somerset are in effect 53 for 6

they in effect have an easier last game too, 33 needed with 3 left, scrape these and should be ok, though our 2nd innings top scorer is grim reading

Gripping finish to this match. Only 16 needed to win and Fisher/Patterson partnership is doing brilliantly.

Black clouds overhead though. Hope they can get home before the heavens open.

The scores seem to have been level for 10 minutes and then we lose a wicket. Christ.

Yayyyyy. Patto wins it with a boundary.

What a fantastic final day of cricket and I really wish I had been there but I have to go to work soon. Looks like we are safe now.

Change at the top needed to start next season.

At last. We now need Surrey to beat Somerset.

Third from top - what a ridiculous table this is!

Even with an away match at Essex to end the season I really can't see them going down now. Somerset or Hampshire to go with Warwickshire is my tip.
