2'25 in - that's me holding up one side of the camel fodder banner. Paint was probably still wet - we were still making it that lunchtime. Coppers wouldn't let us take it into WHL, where Enfield fans had responded with their own banner 'ENFIELD FODDER POISONS CAMELS'. Happy days....

I remember Enfield being especially disrespectful in the build up to the game. When they scored the late equaliser, their management threw a bucket of water into the Barnsley dugout at Norman Hunter and Norman Rimmington.

Really? They celebrate at the end like they have won the cup.

Yup. But seeing as they were a non league club from London, the national press just passed it off as 'high spirits'. The 3-0 victory at White Hart Lane the following Wednesday tasted much sweeter because of their antics.
Not that I still feel bitter towards such a 'classy' club(!):D

Great days. I know I was younger then (and everything is great when you're young) but looking at that, the football seems so much more exciting than it does now (less sterile). Even Enfield look better than a lot of sides we've played recently.

Couldn't believe how many fans were at the replay - me and my mate went for a couple of pints before kick off - couldn't get in on time and we missed the first goal - we thought Enfield had gone one up the roar was so loud..............happy daze indeed

If memory serves me right - 8000 away fans for replay on a Wednesday night @ White Hart Lane. attendance 34K
The Saturday before was Spurs vs Arsenal - attendance 33K. Great days to be following the reds. I think the home attendance was 24K.

Mike Lester in both the videos posted, Sheffield United and Enfield, was class! Had forgotten why he was one of my favourites, what a player.

He used to live in Cudworth as well, spoke to him loads of times in paper shop opposite Rock Bingo, very down to earth bloke even with spotty teenagers like us!

It was 35,000 at the three-sided White Hart Lane - packed to the rafters and the noise was terrific
24,000 at Oakwell so nearly 60,000 to watch a cup tie between a non-league side and a Third Division northern team. Unreal!!

Would the off-side goal have been allowed today?

I’ve not got the replay (I would love to ) but I do have half hour of highlights from the Middlesbrough game.
I’ll try and get it on at the weekend.

That's what I thought, and ours would have been debatable. Enfield's second would still be offside.

Fantastic, me and my dad went and we ended up in the home end (bit of a recurring theme for me). A Boro fan said to us at the end that we were the best side to play them all season. Apart from a dodgy first 20 minutes we totally dominated the game. Mike Lester's goal was a beauty.

    3 questions
How long did Mike Lester stay at Barnsley....?
    What was Enfield away result.?
Is there footage of away league cup win against Southampton (circa 1987 ish)?
