Exactly. Nothing controversial was asked because most of the attendees wanted to show respect to Cryne but to do so they believe that nothing should be asked that would cause discomfort. Anyone who wanted to ask a controversial question would have been worried the reception that question would receive- and rightly so.

You’re referring to his LinkedIn profile, presumably?

I get that mate. But on topic one, Patrick went into great length about the potential of an alleged takeover, it wasn’t just ‘no comment’, far from it. Same with the second topic, that too was discussed at some length. The fans asked if Sunderland had approached us and got an answer. Patrick spoke at length about Hecky and the job and about January and plans for the first team etc. The gist of this forum seems to be that every question received a ‘can’t say owt’ response, which is just not true.

Patrick even said he wished we’d kept Robbo which I felt was open of him.

I believe GG refused to give a response once, related to a question regards our expected yearly income. I don’t blame him. Why would you divulge that publicly at this time? What with other things going on etc.

But I do agree that it wasn’t a great situation in terms of the timing. But this was planned a while ago etc. I’m sure folk would have cause for concern had the meeting been cancelled.

    Take care mate.

Arsenal - that'll be the club whose owner refuses to speak in public, whose CEO is pretty universally recognised as being spectacularly out of touch with the fan base and who delusionally thinks the club that's the seventh richest in the world are "over-achieving" on the pitch despite having not won a title for the best part of a generation!

The only credible reason for Gatzidis' pay rise in the Arsenal annual report refers to the “self-sustaining business model within which the funds generated by the business are available for further investment into the Club". By that yardstick PC and GG should be in line for a reet accolade/bonus!

I reckon GG might speak softly but carry a big baguette :)

    Fair point I suppose.

I’m glad though that some last night thought it was more fitting to remark upon all the good stuff of recent years in the presence of a dying man who has only ever tried his best for the club we all love.

I’m really going now. Take care.

Not blaming anyone and you're right, cancelling the meeting would have caused, well, mass hysteria on here probably. It's just difficult to ask considered questions on other subjects when your focus is on something that, understandably, the two guests can't really go into much detail on.

    Thanks for responding hemsy.

Ivan Gazidis is well known for being completely out of touch with the fans, and he continually bleats that Arsenal overachieve, despite being in the top ten richest clubs in the world.

You are well entitled to your opinion but I don’t agree with you on this.

From what whitey says re GG, he didn’t ‘avoid every question’ last night. He avoided just one. Which as I’ve said I can fully understand why given the question.

And as for Hecky straight batting the Sunderland question, yes I’d prefer him to come out and say he doesn’t want it. But he won’t lie to us, he hasn’t been offered owt and would like to know what the offer may be before turning it down.

If the money is as suggested, he has to consider it. He has a responsibility to his wife and kids before Barnsley Football Club. I love this football team but if supporting it affected my Mrs or any of my kids I’d stop, no question. Life has priorities, football features relatively high in mine but nowhere close to family.

For me the fact that they still turned up and didnt cancel speaks volumes. This meeting was arranged weeks ago and was sceduled simply to follow previous tradition. Events overtook everyone and put PC and GG in a virtually impossible position. But they turned up and were candid and open wherever they could be.

I for one didnt come away feeling cheated in any way. I got what I expected. And Im desperately sorry that its probably the last time I shall have the privilege of hearing Patrick speak.

    Seriously you know that how?

BM was asked prior to Jan 2016 and responded their was plenty of time as they had him tied down for a decent amount of time and they would speak to him in due course.

It was Mansfield that said that.

The next time it was mentioned was just prior to us returning to the Championship when PC then said Conor wouldn’t sign a new deal with us.

This all day long. Next Saturday we're at home to Leeds, the second fixture I looked for when they came out.
Next Saturday is also my granddaughters birthday. When the Leeds match kicks off I shall be at Build a Bear in Meadowhell.

There's one person making the big decisions and it's not the CEO. Well, there might be two but the other one is still not the CEO.

I listened back to it today and he didn't avoid every question. I guess we didn't get the elaborate, detailed answers we've been used to, in varying degrees, with the previous incumbents of his post. Would imagine that's why people are a bit disappointed. Could just be because it was his first time, of course. Don't buy the language thing, spoke better English than Ray ;)
