For me that's the worst outcome, we need to move forwards.

True and I think at the time when he took a step back for treatment he must have been really enjoying it. Just won promotion and a Wembley win in the jpt before that. We have always done well when Patrick had a active role in running the club. I imagine he will be gutted that his hand has been forced to sell.

    Cheers Gally.

Sounds like seller's remorse to me.

why don't they do a pre-order with a discount for doing so? then everyone is happy. They order enough for everyone whom wants one at the start of the season to be delivered on release day (happy fans) and then order some more for the impulse buyers in the club shop. This way the club knows how many they need for the first order. Then if they also get people to use their season tickets when buying they know who has already bough, who normally buys and who may yet buy - and how many they sell randomly. All about the data and some thinking ahead.

On the subject of the takeover they cannot say that we dont need to be concerned or whether it may or not happen. Hecky has openly come out and said he cannot plan for recruitment until he knows what is happening. If we are stuck in this limbo position then we will go back to when when cryne was last ill and we were treading water. We cant afford to do that again. If we are not banking on the takeover happening we should say we are operating as such and that is heckys plans - but that is not the messages we get from them- PC and PH are both banging a different drum at the moment.

Depends how you're going to define poorest.
No doubt we probably have the lowest budget in the league apart from Burton and only four clubs in the league have a lower average crowd but that doesn't mean we're poor.
I reckon the balance sheet would show that we're one of the richest in the league. Despite the millions in parachute payments, relegated clubs overheads are so sky high that they pale into insignificance and most clubs in this Division actually lose money over a season. Wednesday are trying to redress that balance by fleecing the fans at every opportunity but we pay low wages and then sell at a profit. Can't wait to see this year's balance sheet in full.

Two things that are both related that I picked up on in what Patrick said:

    1) When a question was asked about why would a Chinese person buy Barnsley? Patrick's answer was something on the lines that they probably want to develop the facilities.
Well that might be true but it's not totally my view - I think they are buying a club for a meagre £20 million ithat has unmeasured potential that could easily do well in the Premeirship.

    2) Patrick was talking about big city clubs and said several times 'these perceived big clubs'.
Presumably he was using the word 'perceived' in relation to how these clubs are measured against Barnsley.
In other words Patrick was talking about the unmeasured potential that lies within Barnsley Football Club.

Cheers Gally.. sounds to me like PC is letting us down as easy as he can.. looks like this deal is not going to happen... What we heard there was as much of a statement as we are going to get.. the Lee deal will just fade into memory.
As for James and Jean Cryne running it, I truly can't see that as any kind of long term.. James as already said he doesn't want it..
If it's left as it is am sure the Cryne s would have bring in a new hands on Chairman to run the club..
Or will or our eggs be in GG's basket...

I think that same, but again we have someone who wants to sell, someone who wants to buy, problem must be the council and the assets.

One of the assets, I'm thinking particularly of the area where the old Co-op Sports ground used to be which forms part of the North Stand complex and bottom training pitches, has a covenant on it which prevents its use for anything other than sporting activity. Such a covenant is the reason why, long after Bradford Park Avenue went bust, the area where their stadium was located remains undeveloped. I also understand that a plot of land just beyond the training pitches is owned by the Sam Smith's brewery in Tadcaster and they won't sell despite the fact that John Smiths long vacated the old brewery site on Pontefract Road. The Sam Smiths land is one reason the Council were unable to drive a road link from Harborough Hills to Pontefract Road to open the area for redevelopment. The Council can't revoke covenants and Sam Smiths can be a tough nut to crack, you only have to look at the stance they took after the bridge collapsed in Tadcaster and the powers that be wanted to put a temporary bridge in place that would have required access to Sam Smiths land. If the Lee consortium have plans to develop land beyond Oakwell then these factors, not the Council might be the stumbling blocks.

Jesus you're negative. Club has arguably never been so stable and well run,in a decent league position with a new squad yet you say "we're maybe the poorest team in the league". The table doesn't tell lies.

For those concerned about the takeover please bear this in mind:

We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

I believe that today we have just "tacked" or "come about" depending upon your point of view and are at our journeys end. We are awaiting the Harbour Master's (Fred Arbuthnot) permission to dock.

Not the poorest by a long way ... Bolton are 180 million in debt. QPR aren’t in a great position - we are probably more financially stable than a lot of clubs but we don’t have financial muscle to more forward

As Patrick explained- we haven't much debt - hence buying Barnsley is relatively cheap at £20 million.
He did say "the takeover will happen".
The question people are asking is - when?
I just hope it's before the January transfer window because 'hopefully' there will be a bit more money - but even if it isn't - Patrick says there's a budget to cover it, some players might leave (presumably Yiadom?) and some players brought in.
Without saying as much GG blamed Swansea for the McBurnie debacle.
