In last Friday's Chronicle Hecky was commenting that including today we had eleven games in 44 days. After today's game we've now got 20 points from 16 games. Over the last five seasons, it's required an average of 49 points to stay up. In 2012/13 we stayed up with 55 points, in 2013/14 Birmingham got 44, in 2014/15 Rotherham achieved 46, in 2015/16 they got 49 points and last season Forest stayed up with 51 points. After the Norwich game Hecky was on Radio Sheffield and said the mood in the dressing room was good and the opinion of this set of players was on any day, (given a fair rub of the green of course) we can beat any team in the league, plus more importantly, as a group they are convinced they are bound to get better. I honestly think that our next five home games viz: Cardiff, Leeds, Derby, Preston and Reading are big games for us and I hope we can start to make Oakwell a real fortress. Of that group we've only played one team (PNE) sharing the spoils at Deepdale. I will be pleased if we can get 10 points from the 15 available. Our next five aways are Reading, Bolton, Brentford, Fulham and Sunderland. If we can get 7 points from those fixtures I would be chuffed. If we can be on 35 points by the time play Wolves in January , I personally think we will be set fair for our next 20 games. Depending on our recruitment in January, I've got a good feeling as to where we can finish. I feel that 63 points and 12 th in the league are not beyond the realms of possibility. What do others on the board think.?
Sounds like another 2 dropped today by all accounts. I wasn' sure at the start with the big turnover of players but I think we will stay up this season
Pretty certain that if we go to Molineux in January things are in a far worse state than we realise (cup draws excepting) as we've already been there this season!! sorry couldn't resist.
Thanks for spotting the mistake. Meant to say when Wolves came to Oakwell. Anybody can make a mistake as the hedgehog said as it slipped off the scrubbing brush.
