With Williams out Tuesday I would like to see Pearson play just in front of the back four.He would also give us a bit more height and weight in there.

    I wouldn't risk it.
That position is vital - and the player in that position needs to be able to read the game and be very mobile.
As much as I like Pearson I don't think he could fit that role.

I think he’d definitely be a “stopper” in there but I’d expect Gardner to come in. Probably Pearson on the bench.

He's not good enough technically to play that position. Enough CM to cover Williams on Tuesday night.

Gardner will play there I imagine.

Pearson may play centre half if MacDonald isn’t fit I guess, him or McCarthy.

    This.

I think Pearsons future is at centre half. He has the physicality for it, whereas he doesn't have the athleticism that full backs need at this level.

Gardner, if fit has to be first choice against a very good Cardiff team. It's not a game for stand ins.

If I was Hecky I'd pick Pinnock if McDonald was not fit, I would put Yiadom in Williams position and play Pearson at full back. I don't think Gardner will be match fit so I give him the last 20 minutes.

What's wrong with playing Bird there if Gardner can't play 90 minutes? He's not looked out of place when he's played

Pearson’s very much third choice right back and third/fourth choice left back for me. I think we’ll go with McCarthy or Pinnock alongside Lindsey is MacDonald is injured with Gardner stepping straight into Williams’ boots in front of the back four.
