At the end of the day they moved for money, no loyalty to our club like the fans have we were just a stepping stone. I would like to think that if any of them had shown hecky and bfc some commitment and stayed with BFC they would have still become wealthy men and be in better positions than they are now ie playing with us making us a team challenging or have matured enough to be getting game time elsewhere. Hourihane is an exception as he is class and should be playing higher club than villa which he would have been if he'd have stayed with us and waited for a premiership team, Mawson also quality but needs a move away from Swansea or he could become a regular championship player as they are not good enough for the premiership. Scowen on more money but not with a better team or manager, Bree Roberts Watkins careers have gone backwards but bank balances up and winnall fxxk him I don't care. I'm loving our team now and hope Lyndsay Yids take note and when the others make the grade they think carefully as well. When they look back on their careers what's most important memories or money, 5 grand a week at Bfc is still a good wack. I really hope the takeover happens and we can stop bring a stepping stone unless they are John stones quality I can accept that.
Hope he does. Believe we have a sell on in his contract. And it was confirmed by PC we def do for Holgate so hope he moves on from Everton as well. Feel for Mawson. Made the step up to premiership, looked class, but now in a team heading back to champ. Reckon he will be sold for £15m plus if they go down.
Marley wouldn't get in our current side so he would be in the same predicament as he would be at Norwich apart from he's currently being paid abart 10 grand a week more and playing infront of 25k fans when he comes on instead of 12k.. so in his eyes he's doing better. It's football it happens we did the same to Stevie Malian signed him gave him more money and he's sat in 23s, ideal world every play would stay at the club they do well at but it doesn't happen unless in Prem
Players at Barnsley in our system, philosophy, style and management are cogs in a wheel - we can often make players look even better than what they are because they work as a team to complement each other. Take that away and they may struggle. What players also get here here is time and the fans are very patient these days knowing that if its wrong it will get put right. We are a long way from the days when i started watching us where you got 1 decent game to 10 poor ones - not knowing which team would turn up. Even as late as under Keith hill you never knew if we were going to batter teams or be dog *****. Now, we are getting some consistency, and from a young team that is quite amazing. IF we keep getting better we will be knocking on the top 6 come march all been well. IF we don't we don't but be great if we were,
As part of the squad for sure. We've not really got anyone particularly similar. Marley is a very unique player, don't remember seeing anyone remotely similar to him playing for us.
Watkins got in our squad last season and I think he would continue to do so this season. I think he would play wide right with Barnes out left, as he often did last season whilst Kent and Hammill fought for a position on the opposite flank. He’s also an incredibly capable forward player, particularly away from home.
Way too soon this thread. Let’s not forget that 3 months into his time with Barnsley many would’ve said very similar comments. I’m sure he’ll be looking to establish himself as a regular eventually like he did with us. And it was definitely a good career move, he’ll be sorted for life now
Very m Absoulety spot on. People need to remember that we do the same taking players from the lower leagues. Watkins saw a opportunity to earn more money and go to a stronger side. Just like all the lads we bring in.
People are daft. It’ll take 6-12 months for Marley to know if he’s a good fit there. I’d have him back in a heartbeat and he would be in our top 2-3 players.
