So because they got a point against Citeh in their biggest game last season that shows they can compete? We beat Liverpool and Chelsea in 2008, how well do you think we'd have faired in the PL?

If Scott Sinclair thought he was good enough for Burnley he'd be playing for them.

    No they’ve proven they can.

The facts are there, over the last 10 years they’ve performed reasonably, of course there’s the odd thrashing off a giant but that’s to be expected.

I just used City as a recent example, the facts are there, look through the champions league results this century. They’ve never been whipping boys barring the odd game against a giant

    I wouldn't call Artmedia Bratislava a giant!

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. Scott Sinclair was one of Swansea’s best players, he tried to go from mid-table Swansea to title challenging City & it didn’t work, that doesn’t really prove a lot, most players outside the top 6 aren’t good enough to start for one of the top 6

It's quite simple. If Scott Sinclair backed himself to be good enough to be playing in the Premiership he'd be doing it - rather than playing against Ross County and Partick Thistle.

He had his best season for Swansea in the Championship - where he played most of his games for them. He did bugger all at Villa.

He has 23 goals in 119 Premiership games. 25 in 46 SPL games. Tells me all I need to know. Yes I know he is not an out and out striker but his record in Scotland is comparable with a striker's.

Please refer to the definition of the word 'competitive'.
Only someone with a blinkered support could argue they have been competitive. This would mean they have consistently matched their opposition, which they clearly have not. They have however been competitive in the qualifying rounds.
It is almost impossible now for any team outside of germany, spain, england, italy (and one team from france) to be truly competitive in the CL.

Here are some of the teams who have been Celtic in the Champion's League in the last ten years:-

    Lincoln Red Imps
    Hapoel Beer Sheva
    Malmo
    Legia Warsaw
    Maribor
    Shakhter Karagrandy
    Braga
    Arsenal!

He was very good for Swansea in the premiership. He got a move to City off the back of it.

He was ***** at Villa as were his team mates, club in crisis on a downward spiral.

The point is he’s proven he can be a first team regular in a mid table premiership outfit.

Plenty of players would choose Celtic over a mid table prem team just for the champions league & atmosphere. Henrik Larsson stayed there when he could’ve gone many times for more money & he could hack it in the premiership when he was in his mid 30’s.

By competitive I mean they’ve given most teams a game.

I’m not trying to say they’ve beating top teams but they’ve not got battered every time like this thread suggests.

Basically they’ve never been like Rotherham were in the championship last season

Alot of people don't like Celtic so posts are a little biased, truth is they were never going to beat psg and they are a poor side compared to most in the champions league. But in the spl they are the biggest club and miles above the other teams. I think in England they would be mid to bottom of the premiership. Hope them and rangers are never in the English leagues though.

Don't know what the views of the average non Old Firm Scottish fan would be but if I watched football up there then I'd be glad to be rid of the pair of them to some super league.
Teams like Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, Dundee United, Motherwell etc could actually compete in a Championship that held some interest and element of excitement.

That's a big assumption on your part. Statistics are fact. There's no bias here. Pretty much the same goes for all similar teams from sweden, hungary, belgium, denmark, turkey etc....

Yep well the statistics say that in the European Cup the results overall are:

Celtic 7 English clubs 6 with 5 draws.

In the spl they are the biggest club and miles above the rest on football terms that is a fact. It must 3ven get boring for their fans turning up to watch en play pub teams

A fact without question. It's hardly anything to be proud of though is it? It's like this current man city team plying its trade in league 1.

Thought we were discussing the champions league over the last decade or so though????? You know, when things have changed massively in terms of income.

Like I said they are small fry in the champions league and were never going to beat psg look at the worth of the two teams. If you think they is no biased views on this thread due to a dislike for Celtic you are kidding your self.
