But overall how much better have english teams done? How much further have they got? Incomparable. Local derbies are always different.
No. you were saying statistics are facts. I just posted some facts. You asserted that Celtic were no more than a mid table championship side. Is that a fact. or is it statistically provable?
We'll have to agree to disagree then. If he thought he could cut it against Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd he'd be doing it and not playing against Hamilton Academical and St Johnstone.
I never said you did but others on this thread just hate Celtic so some bias opinion comes into play. Im just saying it as I see it Celtic are miles above any other club in the spl but they are small fry in the champions league.
Every team has lapses over the years, Celtic are no difference I can remember Celtic having the best team in Europe and probably the World and every player was born within a 20 mile radius of Celtic Park I seem to remember. Ronnie Simpson. Thomas Gemmell. Bobby Merdoch. Billy McNeil. Johnny Clarke. The Great Jimmy Johnstone. Willie Wallace. Stevie Chalmers. Bertie Auld. Bobby Lennox. All managed by Jock Stein. Missed 1 off it must be Yogi Bear Hughes. .
Stop being a silly billy. The facts you posted have no relevance to the post. My suggestion that celtic would ply their trade in the championship is clearly my personal opinion, not factually provable either way. 10 years of champions league results are fact. They punch above their weight considering, but they have seldom been competitive within it's true definition. Just like Anderlecht etc. Very odd that you are getting so uppity about the Champions League.
I’d say it’s more like Man City plying their trade in the premiership. The title is usually between a couple of teams. This season ....it’s like Scotland ....without the competitiveness. Still, I’m sure Sky (and HT) can wax lyrical about the importance of finishing sixth.
You fail to point out that 4 of those matches were away leg defeats where Celtic actually went through. Admittedly Warsaw was due to the Poles fielding an ineligible player but that wasn't Celtic's fault. As someone else pointed out, the criticism on here is just anti-Celtic bias presumably from Rangers fans who are a bit too embarrassed at the moment to declare their allegiance. To put things into context - Celtic haven't lost a domestic game for 18 months. Rangers have lost twice in the league in the last week, both times to the bottom club. Rangers historically are the biggest club in Scotland in terms of domestic honours. For their fans to get a perverse joy at seeing Celtic get stuffed by Neymar, Mbappe and co while ignoring their own recent defeats to Dundee, Hamilton and Motherwell - not to mention a trip to Luxembourg - is only understandable when you realise it's the only joy they get these days.
Celtic's "competitive" CL history over the last decade (real facts and statistics) 2008: 2nd round 2009: 1st round 2010: DNQ for group stage 2011: DNQ for group stage 2012: not qualify at all 2013: 2nd round 2014: 1st round 2015: DNQ for group stage 2016: DNQ for group stage 2017: 1st round. So statistics and facts show a failure to compete. During this period english teams, for example, have featured in quarter finals 6 times, semi finals 5 times and the final 5 times.
I never claimed that they were knocked out by these clubs. I think it's common knowledge that they lost to a team from Gibraltar(!!!!!!) but still went through. Rangers defeat to a team from Luxembourg - who did knock them out - shows just how bad the SPL. I can also remember Hibernian losing 7-0 at home to Malmo and Aberdeen going down 8-1 on aggregate to Sigma Olomouc who were then hammered by Everton. In summary - they're all *****.
It appears the only people bleating are celtic fans like yourself. Rather bemusing considering this is a barnsley fc forum
Thought leicester won the premier league recently. Tottenham are doing well this season i believe. Man united didn't do much under moyes and van gall or whatever his name is, nor were they up to much last season either. Man city havn't pulled any trees up recently, but boy things have changed this season. Plenty to suggest competitiveness there.
Anyhow Don't know why all you celtic fans are getting your knickers in a twist about this. If it had been celtic who had suffered the dramatic decline and not rangers then this thread would be about rangers....
I like Celtic, my favorite Scottish team, all because of Ronnie God. I also love Scotland & the Scots.
