Would fans be as tolerant as we currently are ? This is a genuine question and my own personal answer is no i don't think we would Would be interested to hear people's views
Probably not but this season hasn't been particularly different to how I thought it would be. Inconsistent for many reasons with 3 steps forward and 2 back. Hecky is also learning about the players and the players are learning about the league. Still think we'll gradually improve as the season goes on ni mind how the last 2 games have panned out.
i have a can ready and waiting. The reason i ask is i have heard a few varying views at the game and walking back up oakwell lane, it would be interesting to hear the views from the font of all knowledge that is the BBS
Probably not Kev but he deserves to be cut a bit of slack. Really hope that the crowd doesn't turn if we struggle. Hecky is doing the almost impossible job & making a good fist of it. Yes he's made mistakes, but he's still learning his trade. He's got more right than he has wrong that's for sure.
Not sure if this is a wind up or? But if not, he could be from Timbuktu for all I care. He’s had the team ripped apart and replaced with young, inexperienced players but he’s still got us competing in a league where millions and millions are spent by most teams.
I think many managers would struggle given the restrictions we're under. A very good team was dismantled last January and the replacements for the key components that were lost cost only a fraction of what we received for the guys who we lost and I'm not sure the guys who came in were necessarily our first choice replacements. I'm prepared to give Hecky more time and hope that the suits in the Boardroom think the same. Changing managers every two or three seasons rarely works.
Just to clarify, and im not saying your suggesting otherwise, i am also behind hecky. This is not a wind up post, its a 100% genuine question
The hypothetical question is fair I suppose but for me the answer is I love what this club is that Patrick is a true red and so is Hecky. Sorry to go all Royston vasey but I love my local club and if Hecky gets a few wrong I will take it to keep what I believe is our clubs number one selling point, we are all 100% reds top to bottom, how many clubs can say that. And before anyone asks I am not a ludite against the takeover or any change just loving and appreciate what we have. Ps not a happy clapper either think we got the last 2 games wrong but refer to my earlier point.
If he wasn’t ‘one of our own ‘ he’d have ****** off last January when his team was dismantled and he was doing the chief exec’s job as well as his own. He can only manage what he’s given
Absolutely not. If Keith Hill hadn't been from the wrong side of the pennines, he would've have had more time. If Hecky was from the midlands, i'm sure more rumblings would be heard. It's quite ironic, i've heard Hecky say numerous things over the last few years similar to Keith Hill about players, layering, over achieving. Though not to the same extent and repetition. I've heard him say similar things to little Lee who is lambasted often (though justly I personally believe). Having said that, if him being from barnsley creates patience among most fans, then I don't think its a bad thing. I just wish we'd have patience with the players too. Most of this team haven't played 10 games together yet. I think its fair that we'll have off days. We over react hugely on here. We get in the top half we're the best team ever, we get in the bottom half we're doomed. There was a thread the other day about Hecky being our best ever manager. Now 2 defeats later, criticism starts to filter through. Fickle, doesn't come close. He's not our best ever manager, he's nowhere near our worst. He's a local guy who is trying his best with what he's got and doing a good job on a steep learning curve with a brand new side.
I think there's always a number of folk who don't like the manager/Head Coach, old mate. Hecky could win promotion (again!) and some still wouldn't like or rate him. That's their choice and have the right to hold it.
