Moncur not 2 footing someone Leeds lovely person in the first half wasn’t the reason we lost today. We lost because all the team was s***e.

Before we get the pitchforks out for George I can think of others who need showing the door first. Aka Ugbo and Gardner.

Also can anyone tell me where Potts was playing in the second half? I’ve heard reports he’s still out on the pitch

Tell yer what.... I think Heckys obsession with Potts is worse than Keith Hills love for Wiseman..

Agree on the whole but I thought Yiadom was excellent as well. He showed skill and strength where others were second best today....

    Special needs?

Only joking, he hasn't been great this season but he showed a lot towards the end of last season. I think he does have something to offer.

Aye, a lad in front of me blamed everything on Potts. There was one instance of Yiadom being caught offside late on and he blamed Potts for not making the pass quicker despite him playing the ball first time. I said to him, how can he have played that any quicker? Surely it's Yiadom's fault if anything for not timing his run better. He didn't say anything after that.

He also kicked off when Hammill was brought off instead of Potts, again we pointed out Hammill was injured.

I can't do with people making players scapegoats. They're literally only watching for the one player to make a mistake.

Moncur has shown nothing this season to make me think he's up to this level. I've not seen it mentioned either but Fryers looks out of his depth for me as well.

He has had the odd moment, I'll grant you that. But his distinct lack of effort yesterday was borderline insulting.

I knew it was going to be one of those days when the game was still 0-0 when he let a ball run out of play from a throw in because it wasn't played directly to his feet.

Williams tried. Some of his passing was awful, his positioning sometimes let him down, but he kept going, he kept trying for all the 90 minutes.

When I watch Barnsley I only have one expectation. I don't expect victories or scintillating performances, individually or as a team, I don't expect every pass to reach a Barnsley shirt, I don't expect individuals to get everything or even anything right. What I do expect is that the players try their best.

I don't think anyone played well for Barnsley yesterday. It's possible a couple of decent individual performances were lost within the overall poor team performance and I'm being unfair to those, but it seemed to me that every Leeds player outperformed every Barnsley player in every position. They worked hard, pressed us high up the field and we couldn't cope. I'm not happy that my team was so clearly outperformed, but I'm not angry about it either. I've seen us do that to a few teams ourselves this year.

However, despite the poor performances, I still got the impression the majority of the team were trying their best. Some had definite off days, some found themselves doubled up on every time they got the ball, some were up against a player with more experience and not short on talent; as a result our player was nullified.

I didn't get the impression Moncur was trying his best. He looked like he was going through the motions. There was a point in the first half where he had the ball on the left wing, deep in our half. He played it down the line then stopped. Then started walking, then, as Fryers passed him, broke out into a halfhearted jog. There was no effort to join the attack, no effort to get into a position where he could help prevent a Leeds counter attack, he just ambled up the field. There were numerous other occasions he was just strolling about with no effort to get in the game.

I wasn't the only one who saw this. I spoke to numerous people in the pub after the game, who, without prompting, began ranting about George Moncur. Not that he was crap, that he wasn't trying.

We made two substitutions at half time. We took off Barnes because the ref had given him and our captain a word of warning that another foul from Barnes would result in a red card. We really should have taken him off there and then because five minutes later he pulled out of tackle, scared he'd be red carded, on a player who went on to score.

And we replaced George Moncur. You'll have to ask Hecky why he did that, but it seemed the obvious substitution to me because he wasn't giving it his all.

There's certain players I like, others not so much. I might make noises of frustration at a game when the players I don't rate **** it up, but I won't carry that on and have a go at them when the game is over if I can see they've worked hard.

Whether I rate a player or not, I won't make excuses for them not trying and I don't want them playing for Barnsley if they're not prepared to do that. My only expectation is that the players picked give their all, if they don't they lose my support and I feel no guilt about that.

Moncur doesn’t apply his obvious talent often enough in a hard working lower end championship side to be worthwhile.

We can’t carry someone 90% of the time for the 10% the time he tries. In the League below we would be able to but not at this level.

It’s sad really. He has more talent than Potts will ever have but the application levels mean you would always select Potts. Rather a steady 6/7 out of 10 then generally a 3/4 with an occasional 8/9.

He was appalling. I’m the same as you, can accept players having bad games but not trying is shocking.

To me he seems like a player only interested when he’s coming off the bench against tired legs.

I didn't say you did. I was referring to the mood of the whole thread and mood of the forum last night.

I think you'll find I rarely jump on players backs like some do.

if players try but don't perform that's fair enough but I think that we have too many players that haven't got the experience to play this league .....we need some age and football experience because at times its like men against boys....When things start to go wrong hecky hasent got the knowledge or tools to change things we have an inexperienced Team and an inexperienced Management set up . Promotion season was outstanding but since then the record and statts are terrible over the years we have parted company with coaches Managers and players for better results .If and it is an if not a when things will have to change because new owners wont want put up with thease sort of performances

Promotion season was at a lower level though to be fair. A level that we should realistically do well at.

If the new owners don't want to see these kind of results then it's up to them to make the improvements. I'm pretty sure they're aware of why we aren't pulling up any trees and why we've struggled at this level for years.

I'd rather hope they gave Hecky a chance to operate within the new regime (if it happens). I think he deserves an opportunity to wheel and deal in a less restricted way.

We know he's a good bloke and has done as well as he can with what he's got.
