I think many of our fans are deluded & need a reality check. Just go through our squad, look where they’ve come from. They weren’t players who other championship clubs were after, if they were they’d have gone there for more money. A couple of decent results & performances have fooled many into thinking we’re a good side. We aren’t, we’re a team full of kids, many of who had not played above league 2 before they joined us. Anything above a relegation scrap is overachieving for us. People might not like to hear it but it’s the truth. Our rivals are Bolton, Millwall & Burton, teams we’re on a similar level to financially. Even a side like Preston who I would’ve expected to be on a similar level to us financially aren’t, they’re losing £5m a year through paying much bigger wages than us. And on Hecky, what should he have done differently? He picked the exact team I would’ve started with yesterday. I don’t see how anyone can say McGeehan & Hedges should’ve started after their dreadful efforts on Tuesday. I think he made the subs most would’ve made as well. He can’t account for Barnes & Gardner been idiots & getting stupid bookings or Williams, Yiadom & Fryers all to have there worst games of the season in probably our biggest game of the season. Look at the Leeds team & the players they have. Pablo Hernandez, look at his pedigree & imagine his wages. Vurnon Anita, a Dutch international sat on the bench. Most clubs go into crisis when they lose 1 or 2 stars, look how bad Swansea are after just losing Sigurdsson & Llorente. We’ve lost Scowen, Hourihane, Winnall, Watkins, Mawson, Roberts & Bree within a season & replaced them with kids. Look at it objectively instead of just been frustrated because we were crap in a big derby. Just imagine been an outsider & not a Barnsley fan, you’d look at it & think ‘one of the smallest budgets in the league, lost nearly a full team within a season, anything other than relegation is doing well’.
