Yes it was & I had the pleasure of watching it compounded by the fact that when I returned to my car, there was a parking ticket waiting for me ! Memorable day
Ha! Showing your age. I did visit Elm Park but it was a few years later in the mid 80s. 0 -0 draw that day. At least you saw some goals
Ian Evans , what a class act , I think him & Macca are the best centre back pairing I have seen whilst watching the reds
My mum and dad went to the 7-0 defeat. Dad knew nothing about football(other than Burt Troutman broke his neck in some match or other) he just drove the car. When I asked mum how they played she replied "Not bad they were just unlucky". If memory serves they also brought Mick Mcarthy back in the car.
Didn't Clarky have them down the pit on the Monday after the 7-0 defeat? telling them that they were lucky they got to do what they did, rather than go down there every day??? It's a long time since but it seems to have stuck in my mind??
I think it was a couple of weeks later, they'd have had to organise it as the game was played on the Saturday between Christmas & New Year (Monday was New Year's Eve). It was excellent PR on Clarkey's part and showed why he was extremely popular with the fan base.

The radio report ended with a quote from Scargill saying that some people, to be facetious, thought it would make better strikers of them.
