How much do you eat in an average day? Do you consider yourself a big eater? Not asking for anyone's vital statistics by the way.
I usually have 4 meals per day with snacks inbetween.... Still usually hungary at night though! Go on I am intrigued... What's the reason for asking?
Cereal on waking. Sausage sandwich and choc bar 9:am Sandwich and biscuit :12:00 Main meal (large portion) and choc bar 16:30 Maybe a couple of handfulls of popcorn thereafter. This on days off from work: extremely regimented.
Porridge every morning. Lunchtime nothing if I am busy. If sitting about the house then perhaps a couple of biscuits with a cup of tea. Evening meal watching the chase. Coffee and biscuits or maybe toast for supper.
I have large bowl of porridge with banana, slice of toast with peanut butter for breakfast (about 7am). This keeps me going until about lunchtime (about 1pm) when I'll have a sandwich or some rice and salad, plus apple, orange. There's usually some biscuits going around the office that keep me sugared up during the afternoon. Evening time about 7pm I sometimes overeat I think, main meal, wine, dessert, nuts, raisins. I could definitely get away with eating less. I also have about 5 coffees during the day.
I eat waaaaaay too many biscuits. Plus I can knock out a pretty decent imitation of a Betty's Fat Rascal so that doesn't help either.
Large breakfast of porridge or a couple of eggs with toast and salad. Try to have a big, healthy lunch. Usually eat just a snack in the evening. Eat stacks of veg, fish, and sometimes white meat. Rarely eat red meat. Weigh more than I should, probably due to my love of craft ale, cheese and bread, though I only drink at weekends. Overall I'd say I eat above average portions at breakfast and lunch, and below average in the evenings unless I'm with friends, then things can go a bit haywire. Very rarely eat sweet stuff.
I eat a ketogenic diet. 5% carbohydrates. 25% protein and 70% monounsaturated fats.(olive oil, coconut oil, ghee, lard, butter) I lost 3 stone in two months on this diet. I fast 18-6. That is I only eat between midday and 6 pm. Lunch and a later meal. I never feel hungry . I drink whisky and diet coke at weekends and the occasional glass of white wine during the week. My blood pressure has stabilised.. This way of eating is difficult to maintain if you are not at home. On holiday I ditch it and eat and drink what I like. I have just come back from three weeks in Thailand and in one week of switching back I have lost the five pounds I put on over the holiday.
No bread. No pasta. No rice. No root vegetables. No sugar. No fruit except for limited amounts of berries. I eat all kinds of meat - bacon, eggs, mushrooms, cheese, cream, organic peanut butter, cashew butter. green vegetables, fish, nuts, butter, coffee, tea, and you can make stuff with almond flour, coconut flour, dark cocoa, sweeteners like stevia and I put butter and thick cream in my coffee...lots of salt, Check it out here; https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto
Breakfast: Cup of tea when I wake up (new development but it does make early morning a bit nicer). Cereal if I have time or brunchbar if not. Lunch/dinner: Sandwich in a bread cake/roll/bun whatever you want to call it, a packet of crisps and a handful of grapes. Dinner/tea: depends what I fancy with a small glass of diet pop. Always got to have a bit of dessert though afterwards, even if only something tiny. I might maybe have a biscuit around 11 at work if I'm feeling peckish. My biggest problem is not drinking enough. When I do track my food intake on myfitnesspal I struggle to break 1000 calories. I doubt I ever eat more than 1200-1400 on a regular day. I don't do any exercise though.
It's not intentional, it's just what I eat. My mam's diabetic and has small portions and I just grew up eating in a similar way. I say 'regular day' because there are times I will eat a big pizza from Papa Johns or a boneless banquet from KFC etc. I'm certainly not wasting away. I know not exercising is bad but my job involves a bit of walking about, carrying piles of books etc. so I'm not sat down all day.
I am sorry your mum is diabetic. If she wants to reverse this look here; https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto. You are in control of what you eat.... food doesn't arrive in your mouth by accident
Thanks but I'm happy with how I am. My mam has been a type 1 diabetic for the last 40 years, and again, is happy with her diet.
