    No point. Only an observation.

Why is it a relevant observation?

Why not just contribute to the thread in an appropriate way as others have rather than calling me brain dead and insinuating I dont like black players?

I like Walters & I also thought & still think there is potentially a good striker in Devante Cole

I thought Devante was a phenomenal talent who we failed to get the best out of. I rather fear that we may be doing the same with Ike, even though it is early days. I worry that Chelsea will feel we have not advanced his career by surrounding him with inferior players who do not assist him to show his true worth.

Really? It's no secret that redarmychris & I rarely see eye to eye when discussing whether we rate our players, or not (George Smith being a prime example). But I've never, EVER known him criticise a player based on the colour of his skin. The last player I saw him criticise a short while ago was Angus MacDonald. Again, I don't agree with his assessment. But again, I don't think his criticism of George Smith & Angus MacDonald had anything to do with their skin colour any more than your criticism a couple of years ago of Conor Hourihane was based on him being an Irish Catholic..

Its hard to compare the two from a Barnsley perspective as we had one in division one & the other in the Championship but if we had the choice of signing one or the other on a permanent basis, I would pick Cole

Had to login again to reply

Devante Cole has an absolutely disgusting attitude and the fault for him not being any good when with us is entirely his.

I’m sure Chelsea will have had an idea of what our squad would be like and in any case, it’s all virtually all our risk and very little for them.

I really couldn’t care less what they think. They’ve yet to send us a decent player so what are we going to lose.

Oh and Ugbo missed a sitter on Saturday. I understand pickings are slim but a decent striker would have scored. Same as Bradshaw missed a piss easy header too.

Surprised Wiggy isn’t on here yet saying that’s Mamadou. You know, because Thiam is so overweight.

Fair comment, JLWBL. But I didn't actually draw that conclusion. I seem to recall RAC making what I felt to be unwarranted criticism of Andy Yiadom early last season - but I haven't gone trawling through previous posts, so if I am wrong about that the I apologise to RAC. You're right to say I criticised Hourihane a couple of years ago. But (like yourself, I suspect) having Irish Catholic stock in my ancestry that would hardly be likely to be the basis of any criticism, and it would be wrong if it was, on which point I think we are agreed. Whatever the basis of RAC's negative view of Ike Ugbo, I feel it is plain wrong, and misunderstands what we are about as a club.

But why are you bringing skin colour into it?

Yiadom has been slated by afew on here since Leeds at home. Have you announced the same observation to them?

Ive seen every game Ugbo has played for us apart from Bristol City away and he has missed atleast 4 sitters and his best performance in the league was a 6/10 against Burton away.

Its nothing to do with what we're about as a club. Hecky has stated not all these signings will work and performance based evidence suggests Ugbo is one of them.

The way I see it is this. That chance came across very quickly to Ugbo, and he had one chance to have a swipe at it. The shot was on target; it was saved. That's how it goes. So when a guy gets on the field with 18 minutes to go and has a shot on target I can't see how it is sensible to write him off as you and RAC appear to be doing. But hey - it's a game of opinions and ours differ. That's all there is to it.
