Davies, Pearson and Lindsay were great at the back yesterday, really solid. Lindsay looks a top player for me - if we can get Jackson or Macdonald playing to their best next to him they should form a good pairing. McCarthy though, he can’t stop a cross coming in! Noticed this earlier in the season too - always let’s them get to the byline and get a ball in. It looked like we wanted to stop Brentford’s winger (47..?) cutting in onto his right, but we got lucky in the first half with the amount of dangerous balls into our box
I think this seems to the tactic - let the cross in and deal with it in the middle. This has been happening with both full backs for a few months (maybe longer) particularly in away matches.
We were laughing at the irony of Mccarthys song. ". . . . .never gives the ball awaaaay" couldn't have been more wrong yesterday
