They wouldn't let me into the press conference - but met Mr Lee and a few of his group in the foyer.
I shuck Mr Lee's hand and said - "Mr Lee, on behalf of Barnsley fans, welcome".
He smiled and said thank you - and others there thought it was a nice gesture.

    Blimey, Nudger representing us all...

An indelible impression was left no doubt.

It is too late for them to drop out I hope?

    Seriously though Nudge, well played.

They are more than welcome, and I hope they recognise the potential of the club and work to realise it.

Even if their motivation is profit, they need to speculate to accumulate and it will be a marked change for us to not be the poorest of relations.

Did you have one of those buzzer things in your hand when you "shuck" his.
Bet he roared with laughter, especially when you told him it was made in China.

What I wanted to say at the press conference is this - last night, according to an interview on Radio Sheffield with a guy from Nice - Mr Lee will put a sort of business manager in at the club.
This business manager is unlikely to know anything about the club and its fans.
I was going to suggest that this manager contacted Gally with a view to setting up a small group with a few fans that could maybe meet 3 times per season.

I imagine they'd want competent able people though.

That would be up to Gally to choose them.
If required - I'd volunteer for such a role.

The interview I heard was with a press guy who was based in Monte Carlo. This is from where Dee Darr we’re trying to push the point/idea of us being a possible feeder club to Nice. I’m sure the new board will only be too pleased to meet Gally and/or colleagues from supporters reps.

    Yes I'm in winter plumage.
Which means of course wearing one of several tweed coats.
We clearly need to show Mr Lee that there is some style and fashion sense in the town.
So I thought I'd better get there to greet him before one of our fleece and denim clad gummy munters stepped in first.

Actually it does sound like they are very keen on engaging with the fan base. Some Trust members met with them after the press conference and were very positive about what they had to say.

Did you ever run The Soviet in town by any chance?

No - and as a tweed wearing gentleman I don't 'run' anywhere.

There’s a gentleman that frequents the West Stand on occasion wearing tweed that I believe was once the proprietor of The Soviet in town so I put two and two together and got five.

    That's great news Gally.
What I was thinking - that a small group of fans could be formed to meet Mr Lees representative at the club on a regular basis - maybe 3 or 4 times per year.
I think it would be counter productive if it was open up to all fans - that's not saying that the new owners shouldn't have that type of meeting.

I'd be up to being part of a group.
But I would come with some radical views to move the club forward.
BTW - did the new owners say anything to you that they didn't say to the press.
