Right then , so all the good players have been brought in by the spreadsheet, but any bad players are down the the manager ?

Mix of both I'd of said but hourhine, Roberts, watkins, scowern and mawson all came from the spreadsheet and they are 5 of the best players at the club in recent years. Like already said any manager has the final say in recruitment anyway as said for Conor the spreadsheet brought him to the club' attention Wilson liked what he saw and Patrick and danny met him before he went on holiday at Manchester airport.

I don't for one minute think Hecky has the final say on transfers he said in August we have a lot of midfielders but they are all the same type what was he suggesting?
Mawson had been player of the year twice at Wycombe while on loan and Brentford had offered him a new contract ,he was on the radar of a number of clubs.

    Missing my point.

The same little queens having hissy fits about our current team (outside of the relegation zone in the championship) are the same ones who had hissy fits and threw their toys around when the “dream team” of Mawson, Winnall, Hourihane, Watkins, Scowen et al were at the BOTTOM of league ONE only two seasons ago.

Perhaps, just perhaps, there is some correlation between the two, and it would be at best naive to write these lads off in the same way they wrote off those players who they now feel are world beaters, when in reality these boys are outperforming what the crop of 2015/2016 had achieved at a higher level.

Doesn’t take long for some to forget the errors of their premature writing off of players. Of course now every one of them probably claims they knew Winnall, Hourihane etc were world beaters when we were rock bottom of L1. Always the way isn’t it.

I could be wrong. I’d got it in my head that the Sheff Utd game was in the middle of a good run.

On Lita I agree, should’ve never been brought in. I’d seen him the season before & he looked finished.

On Treacy I don’t think he can be blamed. Almost everyone thought that was a good signing. He’d played regularly for a Burnley side that got into the premiership the season before & certainly wasn’t dross. It’s since come out that he had depression & was homesick. Now playing in Ireland for peanuts.

When you look at the talent he had & then consider that we’d got Jennings who’d finished the previous season fairly well we should’ve had the best 2 wingers in the league but there’s not a lot Wilson or the club can do when players have personal issues like them 2 had.

Turnbull was a good keeper, played through injury when he shouldn’t have & he was poor for a month or two before he went & had an operation he’d been putting off but thought he was ok before that. Definitely should’ve been taken out of the team sooner though.

Reece Brown? Always assumed he was a spreadsheet signing with his age & Wilson didn’t seem to rate him, didn’t play many games before he ousted him for Bree & then Holgate. Could have heard wrong but I was told Lita, Turnbull & Treacy were the only three Wilson signings that summer.

He started that summer with just 3 senior pro’s in the squad in M’Voto, Nyatanga & Jennings. Cranie & O’Grady has been left behind to get new clubs. It took an age for us to start signing new players. The pre-season trip to Italy was embarrassing. It looked like an academy trip we’d got that few players in. That’s what I’m referring to with the mess we were in.

some of the black & white thinking from people, just blows my mind. being a successful football club is an unbelievably hard thing to do. it demands a phenomenal amount of hard work and resources, from many people with different skills. it's just a really hard thing to get right, over a sustained period of time.

the disparity between football clubs in the championship is huge, and this idea that any 1 person is responsible for success or failure, is just crackers IMO. this is potentially a really exciting time for the Club, but it ain't just gonna change overnight. it's probably 3 transfer windows, minimum.

i just can't get my head round the origins of thread. at all. blindingly obvious who the OP is. literally years spent, constantly criticising cryne and praying for a takeover. the takeover finally happens, and instead of positivity over the takeover and for the new regime - just continued criticism of the previous owner.

    weird.

I think we need to spend millions, be it on transfer fees or loanee wages.

No he didn't - they were signed under the plan - Wilson was head coach and had little to do with transfers - same way Johnson and Heckingbottom hah/have
