I've not been overly impressed with him so far this season but I thought he had a decent game today.... Looked neat and tidy on the ball and got forward well to help out in attack a few times. I'm sure I will be corrected that he was actually useless and shouldn't play again but I saw some impovements in his game today and thought he deserved a bit of praise.
Don’t use the words “neat and tidy” Conan (or whatever it is now) will hound you down! But yeah, he’s not been great of what I’ve seen of him so far but he was fairly decent today.
I thought he played well too. He joined a struggling team and got injured quickly and was out for months. He's not been back long but can see his understanding is getting better, as well as his fitness.
My thoughts too seems to be finding his feet now and if he can get a decent run of games he will hopefully improve further...
But Ok is a good step forwards based on the other games I have seen from him and better than we have seen from Potts and. Moncur.
I think Potts thus far has been a more reliable option. A regular 5 or 6 out of 10 whereas Gary has been a 2 or 3 out of 10 but today he was much better. He will have to carry it forward though.
Played his best game since wolves game where he got injured . Mallan had a decent debut too , we looked more solid today defensively and just got to look to create and score more next
We need to get the 3 in the middle sorted. We are better with one up front & two pacey wide men, but players need to know who is needed to break forward & who should stay back in certain situations. Sometimes nobody got in the box to support Bradshaw. Mallan was sluggish getting into attacking positions, which presumably is why Hecky hasn't played him. When he has the ball he looks good.
Thought that Gardner looked like he didn't want the ball at any point and when he got it had absolutely no idea what to do with it. We were amused at how many times he pointed our players in possession to pass to someone other than himself today.
Was good to see Mallan wanting the ball a lot and especially from our throw ins . Although we still lose the ball constantly from our throw ins
Have to take an opposite viewpoint, I thought he was directing the players to make the right pass, making space for others and often making himself available. First decent game I've seen him have admittedly, in fact the first I've seen him involved in.
Improving with match fitness and time with the team. Let’s hope it continues and there’s a lot more to come.
