Now all the money has dried up/been squandered the place is in absolute meltdown. Their forum makes real entertaining reading at present. Real joke of a club.
Hahahaha theyre seriously wanting Andre Villas Boaz as manager! What a complete set of delusional inbreds
Remember posting on twitter at the time they signed Winnall from us that I couldn't understand how they could be talking about paying him four times our wages when they don't have anywhere near four times our revenue. I thought it was fairly obvious they were stretching themselves financially with their recruitment. Was immediately descended on by a load of them talking about Chansiri's business genius and how it was all part of a careful plan, and how they were nowhere near the financial fair play limits. Needless to say I've been very much enjoying seeing them moaning about ffp and unable to change a completely unbalanced squad recently. Brilliant.
I think their "massiveness" has been a detriment to them, their fans believe they are something they aren't so demand a certain type of player, they wouldn't buy season tickets if they were signing relative unknowns from the lower leagues; it's telling that their neighbours have been far more successful this century.
are there any players of any quality that might be nicked from them for a steal..... give them a dose of their own medicine as it were.
Alarm bells were ringing for me last season when they took Winnall off us & put him on wages of £18,000 as Wednesday’s 5th choice striker which was more than any player at fellow play off challengers, Leeds & Huddersfield. They’re up **** creek, who’s gonna take Fletcher, Hooper, Rhodes, Boyd etc off their hands? No sell on value, just dead money.
This Winnall 'thing' couldn't be working out any better. Goes to Wednesday but gets loaned out to Derby. They get Butterfield in return (it appears he's been average at best) So we now have Winnall scoring and playing in a team that could, realistically, end up in the premiership next season. The irony being that Winnall could end up playing for Wednesday next season in league 1. Tis a bit fantastical but here's hoping.
Don't forget that one day soon they'll be playing us at Oakwell and we all know what will happen. Sadly we won't be laughing that day.... inevitable.
At least Winnall won't score whilst 5 yards offside after having had 2 players sent off and having to have an outfield player put in goal.
They're still up their own arses.. a snippet here: "Add Maguire and Lowton to that as well and it’s a lot of premier league players that have been churned out from South Yorkshire. I think we seem to be improving in this area but you have to say something is wrong with the recruitment or training for even Barnsley to be out performing us with the academy." Bless em, we have been for years, we built ours in 1997 and they still can't better the facilities. They'll be getting improved soon as well.
