and this new regime need to spend some serious coin to put right the asset stripping damage that the previous regime has done.
Yes agreed, we are a million miles away from that team that was ripped apart this time last year. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Let's hope the new owners see this, and quick!
Agreed. If more had been done by the previous regime to increase revenue streams, instead of ruining a wonderful squad, we would have been much better off.
Let’s be honest the critical mistake was failing to renew Hourihane, Winnall and Scowens contracts when we had the chance. We are still paying for that failure right now.
Agreed. Distinct lack of aggression/proactive approach has cost us dearly as by the time we got around to it the players had other offers/potential offers that we simply couldn’t compete with. Nightmare off the field, not much better on it.
Well next week we will see the opposite of our "plan", big spending Wolves, a club buying for a big future, living the dream. We may get a shock win or we may get well and truly knobbed. Twill be interesting.
We are down to 10 men, away at millwall is a tough place to go, we recently won there with the same squad, we've had a reasonable 3 game unbeaten run, the takeover has only happened recently, the transfer window is only been open 6 days, hourihane was going we could never even now compete with the wages villa pay, the team that got split up last January there is no guarantee that it would have been successful now as none of the players that have left have been particularly stand out since, constant dragging last January and blaming the old regime is boring, constant negativity about our new team is boring. Just wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.
We've just won away at Sunderland in the league. A team who spend far more money than us in the last few years. Look at Villa today.
Its going to take time.. just hope we can get enough decent players in this window so we don't go down
I think it is safe to say the team that got split up last January would have been successful, as it was being pretty successful when it got split up...
No guarantees though the stronger teams get in to the swing January onwards, all the players that have left have struggled. I loved that team as much as anyone but at the time we just didn't have the money to compete it's as simple as that and it is all in the past now.
Those assets lost at home to 2nd Division Blackpool in the FA Cup last season. They also lost at home to 1st Division Northampton Town in the League Cup last season. They also lost away to Altrincham the previous season in the FA Cup 1st Round. Absolutely gutted with today, there's no excuse for such a battering, but we've done poorly in the FA Cup for a number of years now and that includes when we've had the aforementioned assets in our line up.
