But they were okay after the norwich game when we were 1 point different to the same date the season before. After then we have only 1 win in 13 league games we have changed team and formation countless times but the players are **** it's all the players fault.
Good glad you agree. None of our players except the 2 centre halves, Davies ( on his day)and possibly Bradshaw would get in any other team in the division.
Yiadom has gone in all but name and this season no. As for Isgrove possibly in a bottom 6 team like Burton.
I'm not saying the players are world beaters few with some good potential but have been thrown in at the deep end in a league were mistakes get punished. Changing side and formation hasn't helped and hoofing long balls to a striker who is 5ft 10 and a lone striker is naive tactics which won't win football games.
But we changed team and formation to get those points did we not? Good run bad run? That's often how seasons go, especially for poor teams. We have 26 points from 26 games. Winless runs and points tallys at certain stages are irrelanvt. Are you suggesting you would be happier if those points had come more spread out?
We have changed formation in an attempt to wring the best out of severely limited players. We have no one capable of passing through midfield. I suspect eventually Hecky will be ‘blamed’ by the new owners in a similar way for the failure of the past regime to keep or sign Championship standard players. Such is the way of the world. More generally Paul is a young manager learning the game. The test he has been given this season would test Fergie let alone a young manager.
No one makes us buy/have young players.. it iwas our clubs choice because they are cheaper to buy and play for cheaper wages.. If it was such a great way to do things everyone would do it.. we don't get any brownie points for playing kids.. juat defeats
Fergie and the Redknapps of this world only go to clubs that have loads of money to spend. Hecky has shown he can build a successful team with hardly any money. The players he has got there now are good players - the problem is - there ain't enough of them. Get a few more players through the door and the team spirit will lift.
As a collective the team aren't good enough. We weren't good enough after the draw at Carrow Road neither. We'd simply managed to gain enough points from the many bang average to poor sides in this league to be in a relatively comfortable position. I don't think Hecky's chopping and changing has made much difference. We haven't found any combination that has worked effectively for more than a game or two. Whilst a settled side is always to be favoured, we've looked pretty poor more often than not whether playing 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. And Bradshaw up top on his own IS 4-5-1, regardless of how the roles of the wingers are defined. We have a very small group of players who are good enough, at present, for this league. Many more have the potential, yet to be realised, but are currently not up to it week in week out. Hecky has had to attempt to find a winning formula from various combinations, none of which have worked thus far.
We don’t have the forwards to play 4-5-1 or the midfield to play 4-4-2 it’s the perfect storm in terms of formation.
I said at the start of the season we would do well to stay up, I've seen nothing to change my mind so far. Think we have to wait and hope we get a midfield general and a striker who can score with his head and hold the ball up. If that happens we can see how Hecky does, until then its a bit harsh to blame all this on him.
The new owners have been here 2 weeks we need to support Hecky and the team to stay up this season, that is the best we could hope for and would be a major success. Then with this January and next summer recruiting I would expect Hecky / BFC to be a comfortable mid table championship team and the year after possibly competing for a playoff spot. That is best case scenario that we could wish for anything else expected is deluded and that is only because of our new owners that it could be possible. Slagging Hecky, the players, the old owners is pointless as the squad we have now is a bottom 3 squad and if the new board and Hecky can keep us up then fcking brilliant job.
More than a bit harsh I think just look at the financial backing of the teams in this league and other than Burton look at the teams below and around us, it's a major achievement to stay up.
The one he took to the brink of the play offs last season? I think instead of build we should be saying coach?
But he didn't. If folk are right in saying hecky has no say in signings he hasn't built any team. Good or bad. What he has done is coach good players well, not so good players not so well
The players are largely good enough BUT shouldn't all be first team regulars yet. They should be squad players who are coming off the bench and starting the occasional game. And that is our big problem, the players they should be brought in alongside were all sold. They need replacing asap
Or he has coached the poor players well too? Keeping this bunch up would be a incredible achievement.
