The lads appalling at stopping crosses.

I like McCarthy, seems a good character and gets forward well but he’s becoming too much of a liability to have in the side solely based on this one HUGE weakness. It’s been going on all season.

On a more positive note Davies at fault for none of the goals.

Can't you remember Scott wiseman and Tom Kennedy?

There's got to be a reason why he hasn't made that right back slot his own.

I must agree that when you're full back appraising, you start with what they do at their own job rather than how impressive they seem to be when bombing down the wing.

Yes I can they were just **** all round and out of their depth due to their mate putting them in a league they should never have been in.

McCarthy is a good footballer but is awful in this one particular area and it’s stood out to me all season.

I can't say I've really noticed but it's been hard to keep track of who is playing when these days especially at the back.

By the way I hate you for making me think of Scott wiseman playing for us. You should really be banned from oakwell for subjecting another Barnsley fan to that kind of trauma

It become apparent to be at Sheff U away it may be an issue and it’s been a if big. Watch today’s goals it literally is classic McCarthy when it comes to crosses it’s not good enough. Needs big time work or he won’t make this league.

I agree with you on McCarthy and crosses. And it’s something he needs to fix. Davis was unlucky with the first but not really to blame. Game went away with the Williams dismissal though

With PH and JClapham , ex full backs , coaching shouldn't McCarthy have improved by now ?

Having watched today's highlights, McCarthy cannot stop the cross for 2 goals and gets done on the inside for the 4th. Not good enough for me. He didn't play last week we keep a clean sheet, Preston doesn't play we keep a clean sheet. Speaks volumes for me.

Yiadom rolled his ankle other week didn’t he? And Fryers seems to need resting a bit more than everyone else.

    That is somewhat like saying
He was playing because he's a full back. What's the point of his existence otherwise?

Sorry, no need to be flippant, if he's that rubbish at full-back then he shouldn't be playing in that case. Fryers was available and haven't we got one or two extra centre-halves who could've filled in in that case? If he's ***** and a liability then he shouldn't get in the team surely no?
I don't know tbf, i don't watch this lot much at all tbh anymore cos i know that most of them aren't good enough for this league. Until such a time as we have a decent championship side again who look like doing something (not unlike last year till christmas; i was at forest to see houraine bang in that cracker late on )
But hey, i'm probably one of a few thousand disenchanted Barnsley supporters i guess....

Fryers can't play right back. tbh he can hardly play left back most games.

Inconsistent. Like most of them are. Got a measure of ability but no guarantee of displaying it from one week to the next.

This youth policy we've been applying tends to ignore some essential aspects of human nature and tends not to factor in experience.

There's quite a bit to be said for a lot of practice making perfect.

Firesale forcing a much cheaper youth policy as i see it sadly, lets hope that changes for the better starting this month.

This all leads back to the point in the summer - can we get enough players good enough often enough to stay up. So far the answer is just about.
