In the last 10 years who have been our best players at Championship level?

    Hourihane - No experience
    Winnall - No experience
    Roberts - No experience
    Scowen - No experience
    Watkins - No experience
    Howard - No experience
    Mawson - No experience
    Stones - No experience
    Shackell - Experience
    Butterfield - Experience through us
    Hassell - No experience
Vaz Te - Experience of being a flop
    Foster - Experience
Anderson de Silva - No experience
    Hugo Colace - No experience
    JCR - Experience
    Muller - No experience
    Steele - One season experience
    Scotland - Experience
Hammill - No experience first time

Whilst I can think of many others with no experience who were shocking they were mostly signed because they were mates with Keith Hill or Flicker.

As we all know there’s much more thought goes into our recruitment now and on the whole it’s been very successful.

I can think of a lot of very experienced players who were just as bad as Wiseman and co. These are the same types of players we’d be able to get hold of now but choose not to because on the whole they fail us only to leave for free or go back to parent clubs. David Fox, Michael Tonge, Marcus Tudgay, Jonathan Greening, Akos Buzaky, Leon Knight, Mike Pollitt ect.

I also think back to Lewin Nyatanga who was our most experience player in League One yet was one of our worst performers.

In regards to Kieffer Moore and the Austrian these lads are a little older at 25 so know what it takes and are used to first team football. This is a similar age to when our more recent better players listed above started to peak for us.

For me form players at League One level are good signings. Some won’t work such as Adam Armstrong but in the summer we signed from mostly Scotland, League 2 and Premier League reserves so signings such as Moore are of better quality and the step up we know is achievable as we all saw 7-8 players at least all manage it.

Lloyd Isgrove was a good League One player and has also made the step up comfortably.

The result was a tough one to take today but let’s see what this week brings and take the positivity from a very solid display at Sunderland knowing we are at very minimum adding a freshness to the squad even if people don’t see it as obvious quality.

I really hope we do sign this Knasmüllner I've been reading up on him and he sounds like a decent player. He's currently the top scorer of the Austrian Budesliga and was recently called up to their national side.

Sure he's a gamble but so is Kieffer Moore, whom I made a thread about a couple of months back saying he is someone we should take a look at.

IMO both of these players posses qualities we just don't have at the moment, so to me signing both of these players will be a step in the right direction and hopefully are the first of many to join us this window. Slowly but surely we will have a decent side. I don't think our side is as bad as people are currently making it out to be, just needs a few tweaks.

The result today didn't really bother me that much, for a start it was a cup game and it's not as if we need the financial windfall from cup games anymore. It's always nice having a cup run but the league is far more important and should be our sole concentration this season.

People don't need to panic, just be patient... Things could always be worse!

We’re offered him a deal. Competition from other sides in Europe though.

Fingers crossed he chooses us then. Is he currently out injured at the moment? Read somewhere that he's got a fractured jaw.

Not sure I saw that as well but don’t think it was long term.
