    I interviewed her once for a music mag when I did that sort of **** my attempt at professionalism lasted about 20 seconds. I was just pleased I made it to the end of the interview without pledging my undying love for her.

    I'm with you on this. I don't deny Mansford was good as a CEO with the Media and was in charge when we signed what ultimately turned out to be tremendous players, but he was also the CEO who oversaw those players on contracts all expiring at the same time, which Ganaye has effectively had to deal with, along with others. There was an element of needs must with those signings at the time, as we'd offloaded a lot of the relegation dead wood at the same time, but the club has taken some stick about poor contract management, some justified, some possibly not so. But whilst I think Mansford was between a rock and hard place, he can't escape any criticism.

    If Ganaye is being measured on what he's got done since he came to Barnsley - a dozen or more signings and a successfully completed change of ownership up to this point - then whilst his outward style is very different to Mansford, he's proved to be effective so far in my opinion. Had the pleasure of meeting him in early November, a truly nice man.

    I've got a couple of friends who live in Cramlington who are Newcastle supporters. Their owner has been publicly vocal about selling the club before the end of December, giving the impression of the club keeping the supporters in the picture, whereas the reality locally, subtly put by one of my said friends is that "the reality is no one has got a ****!ng clue what's going on", and that by building up expectations of a "deal done by date" it's backfired completely. Between Ashley and Ganaye, I know which approach I prefer every time.

    I can't believe she's 50. But then again, I'm barely accepting my age has gone up either. Saw them live at Town and Country in Leeds in 1992 I think it was. Mmm.
