So rumour had it we were going to lure this non-league striker to Barnsley but face competition.

Don't think I've seen it mentioned before.

That sounds a lot better. I guess the lower regions of football don't get updated as much.

Think we’ve been here before somehow Stefan Payne/Kayden Jackson/Harry White/Shaun Tuton just to mention a few. not knocking it but we paid good money for some of them but never gave them a chance

When i watched payne play in the last few games, one of em being rotherham away where we lost 4-0. He seemed to get in to good positions but just not finish it off. I didnt think he was gonna be gone cos i saw a little bit of promise. In the same game i was behind net when bradshaw managed to sky it from 2 yards out backpost in front of empty net

Watched him on Boxing Day, didn't do anything particularly impressive. Their left back was hands down their best player. Apparently he scored a hat-trick the following game though.

None of them made it with us but I’m not sure we paid good money for any of them. They were all sort of cheap gambles that if paid off, could’ve made us a decent amount but if they failed, wouldn’t cost us much.

It’s just a name/place close to where I live but still part of Barnsley borough no matter how small it may seem to other places. Couldn’t even tell you where stairfoot starts or finishes

Another with the Dulwich Hamlets connection - maybe known to Ethan Pinnock, who started there.

Could be nothing in it but non-league has this knack of throwing up the odd gem now and then, and he could be one of them. Or he could be another Shaun Tuton.....

Started at palace academy and was meant to sign for sheff wed i believe til he got injured in the trial or something. So clearly had something about him before his injury and now he has 17 in 15 games which may not be in an impressive league but atleast he knows where net is and if he signed for Barnsley we may get extra motivation from him vs SW as they turned him down because of the injury which he sustained at their trial game lol

It is a risk but none of the other players mentioned scored that many goals in the club before they signed for us to be fair, Kayden Jackson got like 4 in 36 apps before he signed for us. Payne got 22 in 48 apps year before for Dover.., Harry White got 7 in 27 for a very low league side and then 0 in 6 apps the season we signed him. Finally, Shaun Tuton got 11 in 32.

None of these look that impressive for me, the numbers to me make me think that they would be very unlikely to have success at championship level. Other than Payne maybe, I'd say they would struggle at league one.
