Can understand Liverpool wanting him to play, but don't see how that truly benefits young players or the squad if that's the case. Must be demoralising to players fighting for a place in the first team knowing this information. And could also impact Kent in terms of motivation if he knows he's guaranteed a game. Would be a great signing if no clause existed. Saying all that, still think he'll do well for them.
Barnes far more productive than Kent, who was good on rare occasions, but too often made little impact and gave the full back behind him no cover. If he was our player worth working on, but not someone else's IMO.
I believe these types of loans are structured so that the parent club will subsidise the player’s wages, but only if they are in the team. No game time = full payment.
Isn’t it that if he plays Liverpool pay his wages. If he doesn’t then Bristol pay percentage of that, increasingly depending on lack of minutes. Actually think it’s fairly sensible of Liverpool. And I doubt whether covering a players wages is a huge financial penalty to Bristol if he isn’t selected.
Still learning his trade , I feel sure he will develop into a good player, I would have been happy if he had returned to us
True, thats why Liverpool have brought him back , which backs up what I said, he is still learning his trade , however , I think going abroad, even if he has not played much will be good for experience even if most of it is off the training ground
Parallels there with Dale Jennings though. Complete flop at Bayern and then he came here to launch his career...........oops!
In fairness , I do not think you can compare , Jennings was released form Liverpool as a schoolboy & made is progress at Tranmere & the rest is history , whilst Kent is still on Liverpools books , recently had his contract extended & Liverpool are trying to manage his development & you would think they must be hopeful of him developing
