No Gardner, Williams, Mcgeehan or Bird.

    Isgrove potentially out too.

    Work to be done.

    Fantastic performance today.

Best I’ve seen us defensively in a long time.

I’ll say it again though, Davies needs replacing quickly.

Could Gardner not play if we signed him this week?

Way he’s been improving would be good to tie him down. Need a couple of wingers in. Especially if Izzy is out.

Villa looking decent against Forest. Just gone ahead.

Yes he could but I doubt we will sign him permanently

Once again highlights the folly of letting players out on loan without replacements lined up. Let's hope a couple are in their way this week.
Fantastic point today though. As you say, we were excellent defensively

Shame. He’s getting better and better. Looks the player Forest fans said he was. Just needed a proper run of games.

Doubt he has a future at villa.

Was discussing this after the game.

In my opinion, Yiadom could potentially sit in front of the back for to win the ball back for us. He’s playing well at full back though so I’m not sure we’d want to move him. Not got many options though unless bringing someone else in. But when we have Williams and Gardner both back available do we need another defensive midfielder?

Why do do think not ?
Do you think we should, but there could be issues?

Not sure why we wouldn’t try.

His contract is up in the summer so he’ll be available on the cheap it to free so Villa can get him off the wage bill.

Probably more down to what he wants to do regards running his contract down. Imagine he’d have 10 clubs or so after him on a free at this level.

Good age too at 25, the age we appear to be looking at this window.

I could be mistaken but I believe Pearson has played defensive midfielder before for Accrington so he could fill that role and have 2 out of Potts, Moncur and Mallan. Desperately need to strengthen CM and Wing this week.

I still feel like a Scowen-type player would improve us massively; it's all the more important given we have no available defensive midfielders next week. As said, that - along with striker and winger - are the two areas we need more bodies in

Say it again after he had literally no saves to make? Odd and harsh.

His lack of confidence/ability to come out and command was glaringly obvious. Second half they drilled a shot across the box he looked as though he was coming to come to then bizarrely leave it. It’s not good enough.

None of that was down to Davies though was it? His positioning is getting worse and he doesn't command the box in any way. Km nervous every set piece or cross in the box. A few occasions today he was in no man's land, and it was either our defenders or their profligacy that saved us. Not saying he's a bad keeper, I just think he's going through a bad patch and clearly doesn't have anyone pushing him for a shirt.

We have a competent back four, with a keeper who sadly lacks the judgement required to either command his box or act as sweeper when required.

I like Davies but most of our defensive problems today came from his incapacity to take control of situations.

If we don’t sign anyone before next week, the lineup could look like this:

    Davies

    Cavaré
    Pinnock
    Lindsay
    Yiadom

    Potts
    Mallan
    Moncur
    Hammill

    Moore
    Bradshaw

    Subs
    Townsend
    McCarthy
    Smith
    Pearson
    B. Williams
    Brown
    Thiam

Why not? As far as I'm aware he's not remotely in Bruce's plans.
