Hi all, long time reader, first time poster (been a couple of years)

What are your opinions on GM? I think he’s league 2 at best. Decent touch but disappears from the game for long periods. He’s big but doesn’t tackle or even hold the ball.

Today I found myself hoping he was going to be subbed even though he came on at half time.

Over to you lot am I being harsh?

I really didn’t want to post anything negative today after everyone (else) tried so hard but he really winds me up. I was fuming for a good 5 minutes after he half heartedly stuck his foot out, decided he couldn’t reach and then just watched the ball roll away to nobody in the middle of the pitch. I honestly thought Hecky should drop him on that alone.

He’s a good L1 player for me. Heckys tried to change him into a box to box midfielder but just doesn’t seem to suit him. Lots of talent, and deceptively quick when running with the ball.

We can’t carry a number 10 or luxury player though. Personally think he does try, and has certainly improved off the ball, but just not quite enough.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, unless the ball is played to his feet he will not work for the ball and is very work shy. We may as well play with 10 men as he offers very little, a luxury we cannot afford to continue with.

Nail on the head, our fans think we can change into something he's not. Did we turn Craig Hignett into a box to box player, he was in a lot better side at the time and we could afford to carry that type of player.

Position is no excuse for a pack of effort. I don't care if he's in goal or up front he is taking the piss out of us all with his lack of effort.

I don’t want him to run box to box. I do, however, want him to move in the direction of a ball that has just passed within a hair’s breadth of his foot rather than just watching it roll away.

Problem is, he is very rarely in the mood. I would have had no complaints if he had been substituted today!

Agreed, move to the ball offer options would be enough for me.
He seems to hide (even behind the ref) and point at stuff a lot.
The rest of the team carried him today and good on em for doing it.
If Hecky could replace him that would be great

He isn't league 2 at best as he proved himself in league one in a relegated Colchester side with a very good amount of assists and goals from the number 10 role. He doesn't fit into our team though and we can't carry him a move is probley best for all.

I've never put out a house fire either but I know that if a fireman stood smoking smoking a cigarette instead of holding a hose he'd be a lay waste of space.

Your view that 'hes a number 10 so doesn't have to put any effort in' astonishes me

He'd excel in a better team, let's see where we go. These players aren't much in a side scrapping for points.
