Not got the pace or stamina for a winger nowadays but he still has the qualities to be a top player for us in a more central role.
Some of your posts really are odd. You’re moving Hammill to centre forward and then who’s playing out wide?
I read on twitter that Hammill had delivered the most accurate crosses in the Championship this season to date. That's not a statistic that would have me tucking him into central midfield. Also, he's not the best tackler. Back to the drawing board for this post I think.
He's 29 not 39. Hardly think his legs have gone. Hopefully having someone in the middle should help him. This season been very much a case of the the opposition not letting him cut in and shoot but happy to let him put a cross because we have no-one in the middle. Very odd suggestion.
Yes let’s get shot of our one proven experienced player. A winger who has been crossing to nothing and no one most of the season. Is he what he was ten years ago? No. Still amongst our best players though.
If Moore does get a fair bit of game time we now have a big target to hit in the box it will no longer be a case of dont let him cut inside and show him down the wing to cross to no one. Let's be honest we've struggled as a unit for the vast majority of the season which affects all our attacking players. Hammill at his best with an overlapping full back taking a man away Adie White did it best leaving Hammill one on one. He's been doubled up most of the season and showed wide. Problem is we're always changing the formation and side so it's hard to build an understanding + our full backs are more reluctant to bomb on due to our inability to keep clean sheets.
Best crosser in the club. We finally sign a big CF and you suggest playing Hammill there. Do you think Moore should go on the wing? It would be great to see Hammill to finally have someone to aim at
Agreed. I'd be inclined not to judge Moore on how many he scores, but more on how many balls he receives from crosses that create a chance for Bradshaw to do what he does best. So, for me, we go two up front and let Hammill and Izzy service the front two at every opportunity. We're expected to lose so probably a good match to experiment with.
I forgot that being experienced means that your good enough... he's well past his sell by date, him playing week in week out shows the backwards step we've taken since last year when he was struggling to get a game. What I'd have given to get Kent back.
Love Hammill - he clearly knows his home is with us and few will try harder for this club than Adam - a true talisman at a time when that word gets overused. At Championship level to be frank he's one of several decent options we have of similar ability. Personally I suspect Issy and Hedges to be our longish-term first choice wing options with Hammill providing an impact off the bench, and how we deploy Thiam and Mallan (who both look very promising younger talents) could be the bigger question going forward...
