Puts to bed all the rubbish that people believed from his mother on Twitter, about him being forced out.

The club wanted to sell Roberts in the summer, that's 100% true. Pushed out? Maybe a little bit to strong that.

The club never opened contract talks with 'some' players as they had already been I formed by those players agents that they wouldn't be extending their contracts with us. Not the club's fault at all, the only thing I can fault the club with is that they didn't address the issue early enough. That could have been due to funds? I'm not sure.

One player who deserves extra credit during the bad times was Adam Hammill. He was a calming influence and tried his hardest to convince players that they needed a little longer at BFC. He trained hard, helped the younger ones, tried to keep the peace and offer advice.

That guy is vital to this club moving forward, 100000%.

Totally agree - he is a superb ambassador for this club and a model professional. Top bloke.

He really is mate. I genuinely believe he really loves the club. He's a player who went off the rails and made some bad choices but he bounced back in the right way. Good life experience to pass onto youngsters.

I went to a doo with the players a few months back. It was a golf day, I'm ***** at golf but got talking to Adam for quite some time. No deal on the table as of yet but he really really wants to stay here.

He's also a cracking lad, he went out of his way to talk to me a few times. He's a character, loveable rogue sorta thing? If the club renewed his contract it would be one of the best things to come out of the club in a long time.

Sorry let me rephrase that, there was no deal on the table as of October. Not sure if things have moved on. Hope it has.

Such a shame that money tore that team apart. 2016 was a great footballing year for Barnsley, and even ignoring the fans’ perspective, the players’ memories of Barnsley are probably tainted.

As you say, credit to Hecky, credit to Hammill, and up the reds. Cheers for sharing

It is disappointing mate, I try not to think about last January. I remember Fulham away after we sold Winnall and I watched the players who were rumoured to be leaving. Theu just didn't seem interested at all.

However, come the Leeds game we saw a Conor masterclass. If you're going to leave, leave in style. Off the pitch I'll not go into much detail, however on it, on that day, that is how you say goodbye to a club.

I remember villa away not long after too. When all our boys were celebrating and the fans were going crazy at the end. Conor looked on from the tunnel. In got the feeling that he cared alot about our club and part of him didn't want to leave. Unfortunately the money drove him to leave.

Last season had to potential to be very special. It was torn apart though. Not by Hecky, certainly not by Mr. Cryne, but by the players and their agents.

Onwards and upwards though! The new owners are no mugs. They'll make our club a really good place to be, and hopefully with Heckys help we can get rid of the 'stepping stone tag that we have.

There's teams in the Premier League which are stepping stones.

True, however the new owners will not want us to be a stepping stone for our players to move to a side 2 places above us.

It's inevitable that we will have premier league club interest in the future, and I can accept that and I'm sure near enough every fan can accept that.

The club has an option to trigger a contract extension for a further 12 months.

From what I gathered that was the issue. He might feel undervalued as it wasn't triggered inn the summer.

I don't know that for sure, I'm just speculating.

Can't blame the players or agents really though cos Well, if we could've afforded to pay the going rate instead of ten bob and a blackies egg I reckon things might have been somewhat different tbh. However we'll never know now will we. That team came a year too early, may well have been a different scenario this January
