does anyone have the same feelings as me ....George moncur is just not up to this level of football.Following a good allround team performance on Saturday I feel George moncur is either not up to the standard of player we expect at Barnsley or he cant be botherd either way some times I feel we would be better without him taking a shirt. Personally he brings nothing to the team

    I
Disagree. Think he's a decent player who is more than capable at this level as we saw at the back end of last season. The problem is his application, this season has been poor and at times he looks like he can't be arsed. It has nothing to do with his ability.

surely his ability is linked to effort and application both of which is very much in short supply when he came we all thought he was to be a saviour of the club, how wrong we were

Or that he was a decently talented young player with plenty of promise, which he still is?

I suspect his natural position is higher up the pitch behind a striker or two. That's where he played and did well. Not sure from repirts he's up to the position he's been asked to play.

Irrespective of your need to castigate Moncur for a lack of ability (which by definition cannot be his fault) it seems to me that you're the new Herod if you think that the BBS masses ever thought Moncur was our saviour.

And never use the Royal "we" on here. "We" all speak for ourselves.

I think he’s a really talented player. Came in as a behind the Striker “no 10”.

Not sure the box to box role has suited him, but if he can get better at closing down/tackling when needed reckon we still have a decent player in there in deep lying playmaker role. Don’t think we’ve seen the best of him by a country mile.

Problem is that Hecky doesn’t acknowledge the number 10 as a role. Says it’s just a midfielder that can’t tackle.

Emphasis on teaching him to be an all rounder has, in my opinion, altered his attitude. He might not enjoy the box to box role

He has talent. He's either wasting it by not being motivated to put in the graft without the ball or PH is wasting it by not playing him in the role he is most effective in. Or a combination of both.
Both may have their own reasons. I will say that he's definitely not a versatile player.

I wouldn't persevere with him but PH sees him in training and puts him in regularly - and he's the boss.

Probably running His nads off for 90 minutes without much reward has dented His confidence We all know He needs help and when He gets it we will see the best of him.

Sadly for him it says Oakwell above the door not Butlins and frankly I couldn't give 2 shuts whether he is enjoying his JOB or not. I bet he enjoys picking up his pay check and banking his thousands of pounds.

It's hard to see the best of someone if that person isn't giving their all

True. I was very critical of Moncur at the start of the season. Thought he really turned a corner at Sunderland at home when he worked his knackers off. Hecky won’t play him if he isn’t pulling his weight.

At least give a warning before you post something like that. I nearly choked on a chicken drumstick

He definitely has ability. But this season we’ve only seen it in very, very brief spells. If he can get his head down and work hard, I still think he can make a decent player for us.

    Of his natural ability? Yes
Of his workrate, lack of effort and general attitude to the job he is paid handsomely to do? Can't stand him
