Never seen any footage of the Liverpool replay. Somebody on here said they had it when I first started looking for VHS tapes but never backed it up.
I've never seen the Liverpool replay anywhere. Somebody on here said they had it when i first started with asking for VHS tapes about a year ago but never backed it up.
Two contrasting views of crowd control there. At Ayresome Park they still had the fences up - I didn't like fences at football grounds but they were an effective barrier. At Oakwell no fences so the inevitable result - hundreds of idiots on the pitch because they wanted to be on the telly. No other reason - same as when the ball goes out and that section of the crowd are waving like mad hoping to see themselves on The Big Match. Great to see three sides of Oakwell packed though, and for a THIRD Division match. Not many from Burnley were there. This really was a golden time to follow Barnsley. The excitement generated by these players was overwhelming. Whenever Ronnie Glavin got hold of the ball you just expected something to happen. If only we had a clone of him now
I'd forgotten just how good we were against Boro, me and my dad were in with the home fans and at the end they were queuing up to shake hands with us and one said that we were the best team to play there so far that season. Wonderful day despite the result. Love the quote from Mike Lester "If they can beat us they can beat anyone...."
Thanks for that. I was at the Boro game with my dad and brother. Amazing atmosphere. Remember it was packed and people couldn’t get out to the bogs, so there were rivers of piss streaming down the terraces! Great strike from Mickey Lester and we matched them and deserved a replay at least. Can’t believe Lester went to Exeter the following season, always thought he was decent...
Cheers, absolutely loved that - just thinking how good a midfield of King Ronnie, Redders and Conor would have been! Note the Johnstone's Paints sign behind the goals - a sign of future glories - COYR!
