Some of the posts I have read on here about PC over the years/months/days are crazy.....to talk about a dying man the way some do is appalling, alright he might not have built us the new stand some wanted or bought a 4000 inch scoreboard like most wanted or blown his ****** in on old hasbeens as some would’ve liked BUT he took us on when we were in our hour of need, he's steadied our ship and his final wish has been granted by passing the batton over to someone he feels has the passion and financial resources to take the club to bigger and better things. It’s befn claimed several times that PC is hiding his millions under his mattress.... I’m pleased we weren’t in the hands of a owner like Karl Oyston!!
He did his best. And that's all he or anyone else can do. So I thank him for that. My only criticism is this - he sorted the club out and then he should have sold it 2 or 3 years after buying it - which he said he would do. But he didn't - he hung onto the club. And I'd like to know why - and that's why I suggested he wrote a book to put the record straight. But as he didn't sell - he then struggled to compete with clubs that had bigger spending power - as a result of this all sorts of mistakes were made - e.g. players contracts - and as such the club didn't progress - especially when compared to the stewardship under Big JD.
PC did very well keeping the ship afloat but some of us felt unease about where and how he made his millions and how Isoft was run. Ask the people of Ireland what they think about isoft.
Maybe it's been for sale all that time but he 'hung on' because he wanted to only sell it to people who were the right suitors for the club. Why is that so hard to understand?
The stewardship under JD ended in administration which you’ve conveniently forgotten. Patrick said he would sell to the right person(s), and unfortunately it took longer than he desired.
To sum up then YN , you are having another pop at Mr Cryne , precisely the point the OP made, well done
Key word there is 'maybe'. None of us actually know. And it would be nice - to know. There were sometimes rumours of potential buyers - but information was never given. That information is obviously up to PC to provide. Why hasn't he?
Its just another oppertunity for YN to say something stupid, everyone disagree with him and then we can all be brandished keyboard bullies.
I was brought up with the mantra "if you've nothing good to say about someone don't say anything" Its all about respect.
Just thinking the exact same. People are right to their opinion but it's normally hid within other threads so not too much of a stir. This post has just emblazoned it across the board and make it look worse than it is. So we have one criticising the family who still own a 20% stake and the other one having at pop at our CEO.
I tend to think the club has been for sale for a long long time as i can hardly recall a time when it wasn't. In that regard it's hard to hold it against cryne for not selling it no one appropriate came forward. However people should just accept the people have different views on the situation. Some see that cryne saved the club when required and has left the club hopefully will set up for the future. They recall play off, Wembley appearances, jpt trophy, Liverpool Chelsea etc. It may also have been the last period that a barnsley person ever owns the club. He also bought the club in a very unfortunate position and turned it around. Others see that we never got beyond the heights of the bottom of the championship and whenever we threatened to in the cryne era our best players were sold. Managerial appointments were questionable which resulted in an embarrassing number got through and sacked. At the end a lot of money was made on player sales that wasn't reinvested in the team and finally some people have concerns re isoft which a quick Internet search does make uncomfortable reading. But what does it matter now, we need to move on together not create arguments amongst out own.
I didn't think I had. Just think he should have sold it years before he did. He actually told me face to face that he was looking to sell - and that was 8 years before he did. What happened in those 8 years - while Barnsley were mostly anchored to the bottom 6 of the Championship - or in Division 1.
A very valid question but how do we not know that the club has been up for sale for last 12 years? Im pleased he has hung on for someone that has some good history of owning a Football club as opposed to some of the other arseholes who buy football clubs
We all must agree - that when he did eventually find a buyer - he's found us an absolute beauty !!! On paper anyway - but these owners on the face of it look like the real deal. So again - something else we need to be very thankful to PC for.
You mention the word respect. Respect should be earned. I think some people have great difficulty in seeing beyond what PC has done in keeping the club afloat. Others would rather have had a business man who didn't have the authorities breathing down his neck for what some people would say were dodgy business dealings. Wasn't an investigation stopped because of PC ill health?
